FIRST LOOK at Disneyland’s Reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown

One area of Disneyland is going through a HUGE transformation.

See ya soon!

Mickey’s Toontown closed back in March in Disneyland Park for a complete reimagining, and we’ve heard all about the new details as well as that the area may be expected to reopen in 2023. Now we have a few MORE updates thanks to the D23 Expo, and here’s what you need to know!

Toontown is expected to reopen in Disneyland in early 2023, and it will include all kinds of new features and interactive spaces.

Toontown details

At the D23 Expo, we got to see a model of Toontown (including the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway!), and we also heard some interesting new details.

The reimagining of Toontown will introduce the brand new Good Boy! Grocers farmers market as a space to get all kinds of grab-and-go eats, and Cafe Daisy will be the combination of three previous quick service spots, including Daisy’s Diner.

If you’ve ever been to Goofy’s House in Toontown in the past, it was mostly a play area for young kiddos, but the NEW Goofy’s House (known as the How-To-Play Yard) will become a fun interactive “candy kitchen” because it’s all about him making candy for his pals! (Note that no real candy will actually be involved.)

The nearby Donald’s Duck Pond brings even more interactive elements to Toontown, like spinning water lilies and balance beams.

And the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will take place at the El CapiTOON Theater, where the “Perfect Picnic” short will be shown to riders. There will also be a special exhibit “created by the Toontown Hysterical Society” that showcases life in the Toon world.

If you want to check out the center of Toontown you’ll find yourself in CenTOONial Park, where “fountain features and water tables” will provide interactive elements for everyone to enjoy.
