REVIEW: Passion Fruit Bubble Tea Saves the Day at China Marketplace for the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

With so many tasty restaurants located in the China pavilion, it’s hard to believe we’d recommend checking out this food booth over those locations, but we absolutely do! Each year for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, we’ve never left the China booth dissatisfied.

The Mongolian Beef Bao Bun from 2020 has returned, but now offers onion as a topping.

Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings with House-Made Sweet-and-Spicy Sauce – $5

These were chewy and overcooked. They didn’t have a lot of flavor from the filling. For as much red “spicy” sauce is on the outside, it’s not very spicy. Otherwise, the sauce is good, with a little chili flavor.

Mongolian Beef Bao Bun with Onion – $7.25

The meet is very dry but well seasoned. The only thing that really stands out though is the onion. All in all, it needs more texture and would benefit from a bit of crunch. And wow, was there a ton of onion on the back end.

*NEW* Dandan Noodles: Spicy Pork with Sichuan Sauce, Peanut Butter, Sesame, and Green Onion – $8.25

This is a weirdly spicy attempt at Pad Thai. It’s the wrong spices for China, which distracts from the remainder of the flavors. It tastes like it should be in India.

*NEW* Passion Fruit Bubble Tea (Non-Alcoholic) – $7.25

This was a refreshing drink for the hot weather. The passion fruit isn’t super sweet, and there’s a touch of carbonation to it. However, we wish there was an alcoholic version of this, because the flavor is far better than the Good Fortune Citrus.

*NEW* Good Fortune Citrus: Triple Sec, Grapefruit, and White Boba – $12

Well, it tastes like straight Triple Sec. It is a very sweet, citrusy drink. It has a super artificial flavor, so it’s a pass for us. We’d recommend the blood orange margarita in Mexico instead.

ByeJoe Punch: Chinese BaiJiu Spirit, Piña Colada Mix, and Lychee – $12.50

This is one of the most refreshing drinks of the festival, with subtle hints of the featured flavors. Nothing is overpowering, and the alcohol pour is relatively heavy. It’s a solid choice.

Fireworks: Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila ($18/bottle), Smirnoff Vodka ($11/bottle), Orange and Mango – $14

You can ignite your taste buds with this drink, with Jose Cuervo Tequila Gold, vodka, mango syrup, and orange juice. Connoisseurs of Jose Cuervo will definitely know that this is Gold tequila instead of Silver, as the taste is very prevalent. It’s also a sweet drink with lots of mango flavor. Overall, we found it yummy and refreshing.

Jasmine Draft Beer – $ for 6 oz., $ for 12 oz.

Epcot Food & Wine 2018 – China – Jasmine Draft Beer

Surprise! This one’s not brewed in China — or even made there! In fact, it’s brewed locally in Florida with a slapped-on Jasmine name, sort of like how local brewery Crooked Can made a unique draft for Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs. It’s a straightforward, unfiltered wheat beer with a small floral hint. Very drinkable, and we believe this is the only spot to actually get this beer.

Location of the China Marketplace at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

The China Marketplace is conveniently located directly across from the China Pavilion on World Showcase Promenade. You can find it at number 11 on the map below.

With so many food and beverage options, China is a must-do if you’re visiting EPCOT during the 2022 International Food & Wine Festival. Do you agree?
