Virtual Queue Announced for NEW Disney World Annual Passholder Magnets

Calling ALL Annual Passholders: pull out those calendars! It’s time to mark down some important dates!

Orange Bird Mural

Annual Passholders are able to get some special perks in Disney World — from discounts on hotels, meals, and special events, to exclusive merchandise, and more. They also sometimes get FREE Annual Passholder magnets with some pretty fun designs. And now we’ve got an exciting update about a NEW Annual Passholder magnet coming to Disney World!

Disney has announced that a NEW Orange Bird Annual Passholder magnet will be distributed in Disney World soon! An Orange Bird Annual Passholder magnet was released back in April of 2021, but this one has a new design!

Here are some basic things you need to know: The magnet will be available for a limited time — only from July 5th through August 5th. You’ll be able to grab it at Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories at Disney Springs from 10AM to 10PM, while supplies last.

A virtual queue is going to be utilized for this release, similar to what was done for the Mickey and Minnie Annual Passholder magnet. You won’t be able to pick up the magnet for other Annual Passholders in your family or friend group. Instead, Disney has specified that each Passholder has to be present and they will have to show their Annual Pass card, MagicBand, or MagicMobile card, as well as a photo ID.

To access the queue, you’ll want to make sure that all of your family and friends who are Annual Passholders are connected to your account. While they’ll still need to be there to get their magnet, if you’re all connected — you’ll be able to sign up for the Virtual Queue together.

You can’t access the virtual queue until you’re within 45 miles of Disney Springs, so just keep that in mind. Once you’re within that radius, you can go to the My Disney Experience app, select “Annual Passholder Magnet Pick-Up” on the home screen, and join the queue. The Queue will open at around 9:30AM each morning. It might reopen at different parts of the day, so be sure to check on that if it fills up in the morning!

Once you’ve joined the virtual queue, you’ll get an estimated return time. Once your return time is called, you’ll have 1 hour to get to the physical queue in Disney Springs. If you don’t make it in time, you’ll need to rejoin the virtual queue.

©Disney

And that’s it! Just remember that it’s limited to 1 magnet per person, it’ll only be available while supplies last, and every Passholder has to be there in person to pick up their magnet.

Disney has also indicated that they might discontinue the use of the virtual queue, depending on demand. So be sure to check and see what the situation is like ahead of your trip!

If you’re collecting ALL of those Annual Passholder magnets, mark your calendars for these dates and schedule a Disney trip between these days so you can grab one!

Not an Annual Passholder but you want to become one? Right now, Disney has paused most annual pass sales, though there was a glitch that made it appear Annual Passes were on sale for a limited time. That glitch has since been corrected.

New Lightsabers Coming to Hollywood Studios SOON!

In May, during the Star Wars Celebration, Disney announced the opportunity to vote for the next Legacy Lightsaber Hilt on Disney Parks Blog. The votes are in, meaning you can add a new lightsaber to your collection. Padawan Caleb Dume (Kanan Jarrus) got the most votes, and now you can soon buy his lightsaber. This Legacy Lightsaber Hilt will be added to Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. We don’t have a date yet of when it will be available, but we will keep you updated once we find out.

That’s not the only lightsaber news we got today. In the Disney Parks Blog post, we also discovered that the Limited Edition Ahsoka Tano Legacy Lightsaber Hilt Set will debut on July 1st, 2022. Only 6,000 of this limited-edition collector’s set will be available worldwide. Disney shared that a limited quantity will be available at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, only available at Walt Disney World Resort beginning July 1st, 2022, until supplies last. The post says this limited edition lightsaber was created especially for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. There was no mention of when it would be available at Disneyland, but it may be safe to assume it’s the same date as Walt Disney World. The lightsaber will come with a case that plays Ahsoka’s theme song when opened. The set includes two lightsaber hilts modeled after the lightsabers she uses in “Star Wars: Rebels.” An individual numbered limited edition plaque will also be included.

This is some exciting news for all the Star Wars fans out there and lightsaber collectors. Which lightsaber are you most excited about?

Guest Caught Bringing Handgun with 12 Rounds into Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A 44-year-old guest from Miami got into an argument with her husband when he brought his handgun to Walt Disney World on their family vacation. She didn’t like that he owned a gun in the first place, she said.

Within hours, that gun ended up getting the woman in trouble.

She told authorities she had no idea the gun was in the family’s cooler when she tried to enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios later that morning. It ruined her family trip since she was banned from Disney property.

She told authorities she packed a cooler with drinks and food for the family’s day at the theme park, and she assumed the 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun was a battery charger when she went through Disney security, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s incident report. The gun had a magazine with 12 rounds.

The woman “stated she did not have any idea that her husband’s firearm was in the left pocket… She felt embarrassed about the situation,” said the report detailing the latest incident of someone being caught with a gun at Disney.

The woman arrived at the park carrying the cooler with the gun in it and pushing a stroller on May 28.

She set off Disney’s high-tech security detector and then at bag check, Disney security found the gun.

The woman was trespassed from Disney property. The sheriff’s office ruled there was probable cause the woman was carrying a concealed firearm and forwarded the case to the state attorney’s office. However, she has not been charged with a crime yet, according to online court records, so we are not naming her.

The woman’s husband bought the gun and got a concealed weapons permit a year earlier. She “stated she disagreed with him having a firearm,” the sheriff’s report said.

The woman hadn’t been previously arrested or charged with a crime in the state of Florida before, the sheriff’s report noted.

We reached out to the woman for comment. She said the incident happened at the beginning of their vacation. She declined to say anything else because she had not heard the outcome of her case yet. “I wish I could talk about it,” she said on Tuesday. “It’s been stressful.”

Millions of people visit the theme parks every year. A handful of people are caught bringing a gun into Disney, which expressly forbids weapons on their private property. If they do not have a concealed permit, they can be arrested and charged with a felony. These kinds of arrests happen regularly at Disney.

In fact, last week we broke the story about a 35-year-old Palm Beach County man being arrested after he was caught carrying a gun, two magazines, and 48 rounds of ammunition when he tried to enter Disney Springs. Aaron Lopez did not have a license to carry a concealed firearm, authorities said.

Lopez was arrested on May 27, the day before the Miami woman was caught with the gun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
