Disney World’s 50th anniversary has been quite the celebration so far.
50th Anniversary on Cinderella Castle
The celebration has brought a TON of new things to the resort, including new food, gold statues of SO many of our favorite characters, new costumes for characters, special cavalcades, and more. Now, the anniversary is about to spill out further into Orlando!
Not too long ago, we told you about plans Disney had to build a massive art installation near Orlando’s I-Drive. At the time, Disney was seeking approval from Orange County to build this art display at 8050 International Drive on the Hollywood Plaza garage.

Disney just released even MORE details about the animated art display which will “showcase some of your favorite Disney characters and attractions in a whole new way.” Disney wrote:
“Get ready to experience Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other Fab 50 golden sculpts as they come to life in an impressive ribbon-like Disney art display that enwraps the outside of the Hollywood Plaza garage. And that’s only the beginning! The dynamic art display will feature additional Disney characters, celebrations, and more over time.”

But wait — because there’s more. You will also be able to go INSIDE the building where you’ll find a brand new Walt Disney World Store that will have merchandise and ticket sales. The store will also have the first-ever interactive Disney Vacation Club Virtual Discovery Station. The DVC Virtual Discovery Station will have floor-to-ceiling screens and offer first-person virtual tours, photo galleries, and videos.

So when will guests be able to check all this out? Sooner than you think! The new store will open on May 31st! We can’t wait to see it for ourselves.
