What you shouldn’t pack on your Disney World vacation: Your meth pipe and your meth.
But that’s what one man had in his possession when he was arrested outside EPCOT last month, according to his arrest report.

Jorge Luis Martinez Rivera was arrested on April 7 and charged with possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Martinez Rivera (30) of Chicago, was caught with the items while going through the security screening. The meth was hidden inside a black sunglasses case that first attracted the attention of a Disney security officer who “saw what was believed to be a drug related item,” the arrest report said.

The sheriff’s deputy was called to the scene and “observed a small plastic bag with what appeared to be two or three grams of white powdery substance” in the sunglasses case.

“I tested the substance using a presumptive drug test kit; the kit turned blue, indicating a presumptive positive result for the presence of methamphetamine,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report.

Martinez Rivera also had a “cracked glass pipe” in his possession. The pipe, the white substance, and the sunglasses case were all taken into evidence.

Meanwhile, Martinez Rivera was arrested and taken into jail without any problems, according to the report. Court documents listed his bond at $2,000 for the felony meth charge and $200 for the paraphernalia misdemeanor charge. It did not list an attorney.

Disney also sent Martinez Rivera a trespass warning to ban him from Walt Disney World property.

A woman who answered Martinez Rivera’s phone Tuesday declined to comment.

Millions of people visit Disney World every year, so it’s certainly not the first time someone has been caught with illegal items trying to enter a theme park. Disney Security occasionally catches visitors who are carrying guns or other banned items on Disney property. We recently reported on another incident where security stopped a guest with a gun around their neck, who proceeded to eat a bag of an unidentified chalky white substance.

During the pandemic, Disney upgraded its technology, adding high-tech security detectors that use artificial intelligence to determine if and where someone is carrying contraband. The upgrade has helped improve Disney’s screening process.

Check out our guide on what you can and cannot bring with you to Walt Disney World. (Spoiler alert: “illegal substances” are high on the list of prohibited items.)
