Disney Guests CONFESS Whether They’ll Go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World This Year

Are you getting ready for Halloween? No? “A little too early,” you say? Well, Disney would beg to differ!

It’ll Be Here Sooner Than You Think!

Not too long ago, Disney celebrated Halfway to Halloween with some limited time treats, a Hocus Pocus virtual watch party and some pretty big announcements! In HUGE news, we learned that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will (finally!) be returning to Magic Kingdom this August, so dust off your costumes everybody because it’s time to PARTY! With the party returning soon, we wanted to know if our readers (that’s YOU) would be attending the year, so we went to our Facebook page (follow us there to participate in the future!) to get your thoughts. Here’s what you all had to say.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 101

Before we dive into our question and your answers, let’s go over the Not-So-Scary basics. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separate ticketed event that takes place in Magic Kingdom on select nights in the fall.

Many fans were thrilled to hear that the Halloween party would be returning this year. In 2020, the Halloween party was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And in 2021, it was canceled once more and replaced with the Disney After Hours Boo Bash event, which featured less offerings particularly in terms of entertainment.

Happy, Happy HALLOWEEN!

But in 2022, Not-So-Scary will be BACK.

Dates for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (a.k.a MNSSHP) begin on August 12th and will go to October 31st. Tickets range in price from $109 to $199 and will go on sale on May 18th (May 12th if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel).

Hey Goofy!

The party runs from 7PM to midnight, but if you have an event ticket you’ll be able to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4PM on the night of your party.

During the party, there will be trick-or-treating with candy that is INCLUDED in the price of your ticket, a spectacular Halloween parade, a stage show with Disney villains, special character appearances in their unique Halloween costumes, ride overlays, and SO. MUCH. MORE.

What a Sight!

Will You Go?

We know that there has been a lot of excitement about the return of this famous party, but does that mean lots of fans will in fact be jumping at the chance to go? We were curious to find out that answer. So, as we mentioned above, we posted a question on our Facebook“Are you planning to visit Disney World for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year?”

Here’s what you all had to say.

Yes — We’re Going!

Of all of the responses, many of them (about more than half from what we could tell based on a brief review of the responses) said that yes, they will be going to Disney World for MNSSHP this year!

One reader said “100% yes!! Just have to figure out what the 4 of us will go as this year,” while another said “Yes! So looking forward to this. I have not been in 20 years.” WOW! That’ll be quite the return!

Trick or Treating at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Some readers even shared that they plan on using the event to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary. For example, one reader said “Yes! Going on my honeymoon! Will be our first time at the party.”

Many guests expressed their general excitement at the return of the party and how its return affects their plans differently than Boo Bash would have. One reader said “We were not going if it was Boo Bash, but now we have May 12th circled on the calendar to get tickets!”

Hocus Pocus show

Others plan on attending but know that their fingers gotta move FAST when tickets go on sale. One said, “Assuming it doesn’t immediately sell out, yes!” There is a lot of excitement surrounding this event’s return so if you’re planning to go you’ll definitely want to be ready as SOON as the tickets go on sale.

Others shared how they’ll be really making the most of the Halloween season and tying the Halloween party with a Halloween-themed Disney Cruise Line trip. What a vacation!

Some of our readers are getting into the spirit ASAP to start party preparations. One reader said that they’ll definitely be going to Not-So-Scary and said “making costumes now!!” YOU GO! We can’t wait to see what fantastic costumes you create.

No — Not This Time!

But, it wasn’t all tricks and treats for everyone. We did get quite a few responses from guests saying that they would not be going for a variety of reasons.

Some of our readers won’t be heading to Disney World this fall for the party. Some shared that they simply don’t have a trip planned that would fall during those dates, and they won’t be changing their existing plans.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

A lot of people said they wouldn’t be going due to the cost of the tickets. Again, as we noted above, ticket prices range from $109 at the cheapest to $199 per person. There are separate prices for kids, and Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can save $10 on select event nights.

Still, paying between $109-$199 per person, especially if you go during a night that falls on the higher end of the price spectrum, can get really expensive for a party that only lasts a few hours. One of our readers said: “We already have a trip booked for the end of October, but based on the price of party tickets most likely will not be attending!”

It’s Halloween Minnie!

Others shared similar sentiments. One said they’d love to go, but the price of the tickets is “putting [them] off.” Some shared that they feel they’ve been “priced out,” or as one reader so eloquently put it: “Got my scare when I checked prices, so that’s a big…negative.” Seems that for some, the prices was enough to scare them away from the event.

Another shared that they’re already splurging on a deluxe hotels for their trip, so they’ll be skipping out on adding this extra cost to their trip. There may only so much you can budget for a trip, and making decisions like that (in terms of what to prioritize) can be really tough, but they’re essential to helping you stick to that all important plan.

How Cute Are They?!

Others are holding out hope that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will also be making a return this holiday season and would rather go to that event instead. One said “No. I’ll be there while the Christmas party is going on hopefully.” Another reader said “Holding out for the Christmas party!”

A few of our readers even said they wouldn’t be going because they have other Halloween plans: “Was thinking of doing the Disneyland celebration instead.”

Boo to You!

Some expressed concerns about crowding. A few shared that the event felt really crowded the last time they went, so they can’t quite justify the cost of going away. We will definitely be watching to see how crowd levels feel at the event this year and we’ll share our experience with you. That was one of the things that Boo Bash did fairly well — at least when we went, crowds were pretty low throughout the night.

And one reader voiced the thought we’re sure is on a lot of people’s minds: “No. I can’t stay up that late.” We feel you there. We’re gonna need to take a long nap after spending the night partying it up with Mickey & friends in their spooky gear.

So Much Candy!
