Recently, many airlines as well as airports removed their mask mandates, as did rideshare services like Uber. A judge in Florida recently voided the federal mask mandate on public transportation, but now, that could change.

The United States Department of Justice is appealing the court ruling that said the federal government’s travel mask mandate was unlawful, according to ABC News. The court ruling recently ended the U.S.’s mask mandate on public transportation.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that masks are still necessary on planes, inside airports, and at other transportation hubs. They wrote in a statement: “It is CDC’s continuing assessment that at this time an order requiring masking in the indoor transportation corridor remains necessary for the public health.”

CDC’s number one priority is protecting the public health of our nation. As we have said before, wearing masks is most beneficial in crowded or poorly ventilated locations, such as the transportation corridor,” the CDC said, according to CBS News.
