REVIEW: These Disney World Treats Take Us Back to the 90s, But Not For the Reason You’d Think…

It’s April, which means it’s the season of bunnies, eggs, and lots of sweet treats!

Easter Bunny Cupcake

Disney World has been hard at work releasing new Easter treats, and we’ve already tried some chocolatey bunny bark, strawberry marshmallow cream, and even bunny butt cheesecake (yes, really). Now it’s time for two more Easter treats, and they couldn’t be more different!

We recently stopped by the Gasparilla Island Grill in Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa to try two new Easter treats, including the Bunny Blondie Pop for $6.29

…and the Spring Birds Nest Donut for $5.79.

Spring Birds Nest Donut

The Blondie Bunny Pop is a brown butter blondie made with dried cherries and mini chocolate chips, covered in white chocolate with white chocolate bunny ears and a bow. The Spring Birds Nest Donut is a chocolate cake donut covered with icing, sprinkles, a crunchy chocolate nest, and sugar eggs. They’re both really cute treats!

Our treats!

The Spring Birds Nest Donut was sadly not as delicious as it looks. We liked the milk chocolate-covered pretzels and their balance of sweet and salty, and the sugar eggs were crunchy but not break-your-teeth difficult to eat. The royal icing on top of the donut didn’t have much flavor, but it did add some moisture.

But here’s the sad thing — the chocolate donut was NOT GOOD. The taste of it reminded us of something you’d cook in your Easy Bake Oven in the 1990s (anyone else remember those?). It tasted like cardboard and not chocolatey at all. The toppings helped with the flavors but they weren’t enough to make it tasty.

Overall, the donut didn’t taste right, and it was much more cakelike than donut. If you like taking cute treat pictures you can see how adorable this treat is, but if you’re a chocolate lover you’d probably be disappointed.

It was not good

The Blondie Bunny Pop on the other hand had a great balance of flavor and texture! The cake was moist but firm enough to hold up on the cake pop stick, and the cherries added chewiness alongside the crunch from the chocolate chips.

The blondie was nicely salted but overall this treat was sweet from the white chocolate coating, and we could really taste the tartness of the cherries. We enjoyed it and thought that it was something fun and different to try!

If you like blondies you might like this!

If you like blondies or cherries you should give this a try, but if you don’t like cake pops or white chocolate it might be worth a skip. Check out the Bunny Pop in action in our video!
