If you’re a Disney fan, chances are that Magic Kingdom is a happy place for you. They don’t call it The Most Magical Place on Earth for nothing!

But any Disney parkgoer will attest to the fact that Magic Kingdom can get a bit overwhelming sometimes.

Whether you have a cranky kid in tow (or cranky adult!) or you’re just feeling overcome by the crowds, sometimes you just need a break. In a park that is full of excited guests, it might seem hard to get away from the crowds and just relax.

These three locations in the Magic Kingdom are my tried-and-true rest spots for when you need a moment away from the crowds.

1. Main Street, U.S.A.

It may seem counterintuitive to start this list with the busiest area in the Magic Kingdom. But what you may not know or expect is that one of the quietest areas in the park is hidden just off Main Street, U.S.A.

Next time you’re in the park, head down the alleyway beside Uptown Jewelers on Main Street, U.S.A. Escape the crowds for a minute or two and enjoy the ambient sounds of singing and dance lessons pouring from the second story windows.

The best time to get away here is when everyone’s leaving the park after the nighttime fireworks. Wait out the crowds while enjoying the amazing theming of this hidden area.

2. Tomorrowland Terrace

If you’re looking for a shaded daytime hideaway in the Magic Kingdom, you might want to consider Tomorrowland Terrace.

This unsuspecting quick-service restaurant may have gone under your radar. It’s been operating only seasonally for years and it’s currently being used for the nightly fireworks dessert party.

For this reason, the restaurant is virtually deserted in the day. The outdoor restaurant has two levels with plenty of seating, cool shaded areas, and breathtaking views of the castle. It’s the perfect place to give your feet a rest and grab that picture-perfect snapshot of the castle.

3. The PeopleMover

This classic Tomorrowland attraction is probably my favorite place to get away from the crowds. 

With typically minimal wait times compared to the rest of the park, you can easily hop onto this slow-moving ride and soar above Tomorrowland. This ride takes you on a sky-bound tour of the futuristic land.

For the most part, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is a quiet ride. There are no thrills and it barely crawls along the track. The audio track that plays over the ride announces “must-see” attractions throughout PeopleMover every few minutes or so. But for the most part, this is a peaceful experience with just the sounds of the park to ease you along.

If you’re at the park on a holiday, I highly recommend getting in line for the PeopleMover. It’s a good relaxing break in the day for both kiddos and adults. I’ve known many adults who use PeopleMover to sneak in a quick nap!
