This week, we stopped by the Cozy Cone Motel at Disney California Adventure to try the new Buttered Corn on the Cob and Bananas Foster Churro snacks.
Buttered Corn – $6.29
Buttered Corn on the Cob brushed with Spicy Lime Mayo and rolled in choice of Cotija, Cheese Puffs, or Spicy Cheese Puffs
This buttered corn reminds us of Elotes Locos.
The corn is completely covered in the mayonnaise dressing, and then the cheese or cheese puff topping adheres to it like a crust. We chose the Cotija cheese.
The topping runs off pretty quickly, but the flavors stick together reasonably well.
It’s spicier than one would expect, but not overwhelmingly so.
It’s a pleasant snack, and because it’s chilled, it’s refreshing and delicious. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed it, and it’s an excellent offering for the coming warmer months.
Bananas Foster Churro – $6.29
Churro dusted with Cinnamon-Banana Sugar and served with a Banana-infused Caramel Sauce
The Bananas Foster Churro offers a fantastic new twist on the traditional churro.
There’s something different about it, but it’s not a strong banana flavor. Maybe it’s so subtle that we can’t pick up on it after a day full of sweet treats.
However, the banana flavor comes through in the banana-infused caramel sauce, which is fantastic.
Offering dipping sauce, rather than coating the churro in a drizzle as so many other specialty churros do, gives you the unique flavor without making the churro soggy.
This method also allows the guest to control how much sauce they want in each bite.
With a delicious crunchy bite of churro and the thick, sweet banana flavored sauce, this is one of the best combinations of any specialty churro that’s been offered at Disney California Adventure since it reopened.
We definitely will be back to try this one again, and we’ll miss it when it’s gone.
