Okay, you got us — we LOVE the National Treasure movies because they are just so much fun. Plus every time we see the Liberty Bell replica in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square, we’re totally looking for clues on it. So you can imagine how excited we are about the new National Treasure series coming to Disney+ — and Disney just revealed the first look!

The new series will feature a new main character, Jess Morales, a 20-year-old who is seeking to uncover her mysterious family history and find lost treasure. It will be a reimagining of the original films, and, according to Deadline, will explore “the timely issues of identity, community, historical authorship and patriotism.” Here’s a first look at the series.

Uh-oh, it looks like our main character might be seeing some jail time. The series will be written by Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (who wrote the original movie) and directed by Mira Nair (Vanity Fair). This won’t be the first time Disney has turned some of its classic movies into TV shows — you can also find series based on Turner and Hooch and The Mighty Ducks on the streaming subscription service.

We’ll keep an eye out for more information on the National Treasure series, so stay tuned to DFB for more news!
