What’s New in EPCOT: Missing Snacks and a BIG Guardians of the Galaxy Construction Update

We’ve had a great week in Disney World!

EPCOT

As the weekend nears, it’s time to look back on everything that has happened in the parks the last few days. We’ve had some big news, some yummy treats, and lots of updates to share. But what if you weren’t there to witness all of it? Well, that’s okay, because today we’re sharing everything that’s new in EPCOT!

EPCOT Food Updates

Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe

Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is one of our favorite places to stop for a quick breakfast or a mid-day pastry when we’re strolling the World Showcase. And if it’s one of your favorites as well, then you should know that currently, the beloved Troll Horn isn’t available!

The Troll Horn is missing!

According to Cast Members, they’re having trouble getting an ingredient, (See: supply chain issues in Disney World) and it won’t be available until at least the end of February.

Oasis Sweets & Sips

Over in the Morocco Pavilion, we found a new drink this week that we were delighted to try on a cold and rainy day! The Hot Mint Tea combines Green Tea, Black Tea, Spearmint, and Organic Sugar, and it’s available for $4.50, although we’ve only seen it on select days.

Mmm, hot tea!

It’s basically the hot version of the Frozen Mint Tea at Oasis Sweets & Sips, and it’s pretty sweet, so it tastes like mint candy. Make sure to check out our full review if you’re interested in trying it on your next trip!

EPCOT Construction Updates

World Showcase Construction

Over by the Starbucks at the entrance of World Showcase, we noticed that the grassy area nearby was completely covered with construction walls. Disney hasn’t specifically mentioned plans for this spot, although it is sometimes used during the festivals.

What’s going on?

This area isn’t currently used for much, except for extra seating. We’ll keep an eye on the construction to see if anything changes or gets added.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

We continue to see progress on the most highly-anticipated part of the EPCOT transformation — the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride! This omnicoaster will be the first of its kind in Disney World and is set to open this summer. And this week, we got some new theming outside the main building.

It’s a HUGE new addition!

Although it isn’t fully revealed to us yet, we can see that workers are in the process of installing the Nova Corps Starblaster Ship out in front of the ride. The iconic ship was first seen in the original Guardians of the Galaxy film, and now it will greet guests as they approach the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion in EPCOT!

EPCOT Merchandise Updates

Creations Shop

Several new shirts arrived at the Creations Shop this week, starting with the EPCOT Rainbow Tee that kinda looks like it was drawn in crayon. Don’t ya think? It’s $36.99 and would be the perfect shirt to wear during the Festival of the Arts.

It’s really artsy, we like it.

If you’re visiting during those hot summer months (or most of the year, let’s be honest, this is Florida), then you may want to try out the Spaceship Earth EPCOT Tank Top. It’s mostly a gray-silver color, but it has the Spaceship Earth pattern across the bottom and the EPCOT logo on one shoulder. It’s in the store for $34.99.

Sometimes it’s too hot for a regular tee!

Do your kiddos want to get in the EPCOT spirit too? Well, good news — this Figment Shirt just arrived this week and it’s $29.99. It has Figment artwork along with the names of the four new neighborhoods that EPCOT is split into now.

A nod to the future of EPCOT.

And finally, the last new shirt we spotted on a mannequin (work that tee, dude!). It’s a black shirt with all the EPCOT pavilion logos in the shape of a Mickey Mouse head. How cool!

Isn’t this one neat?

IT’s probably our favorite of the group, and you can snag it for $29.99.

Pin Traders

But the Creations Shop wasn’t the only store to get some new merch! Over at Pin Traders, we spotted three new pins this week. First up is the Enlist First Order Pin made just for Star Wars fanatics. One side has a Stormtrooper that slides out, while the other side has a Tie Fighter. You can get it for $19.99. (And we’ve seen it around the other parks as well!)

New pins!

We also got a new mystery pin box for $19.99. This one is called Distinctively Disney Dining and features a random choice of different pins themed to Disney food and restaurants. How cool!

This is right up our alley.

The last new pin is the Floating Down Main Street, U.S.A. Limited Edition Minnie Mouse Pin. (Woah, that’s a mouthful!) It features Minnie Mouse in her iconic red, perched on top of a hot air balloon.

The last new pin!

You know what it reminds us of? The grand finale of the Festival of Fantasy parade (which, ironically is returning to Magic Kingdom in March) where Mickey and Minnie ride through the park in a giant hot air balloon. If you love that scene, this unique pin is $19.99.

House of Good Fortune

  • Tiger figure $9.95
  • peace dragon $21.95

In House of Good Fortune, we got a new merchandise display for the Year of the Tiger. Along with the gift shop makeover, there’s a brand new little Tiger Figurine for $9.95. What a great way to remember which year you visited Disney World!

New Year of the Tiger merchandise

There’s also a new Peace Dragon statue available for $21.95. He honestly looks so mellow that we’re starting to feel relaxed too!

It’s a Peace Dragon!

In summary, this store has a great assortment of really unique merchandise, so don’t skip it the next time you’re in the China Pavilion!

Mitsukoshi

If you make your way to Mitsukoshi in Japan, you’ll find that they have some new Anime drinkware available. First up, there were two new metal water bottles for $24.95 each.

It’s always good to have a water bottle.

Already own a water bottle? Well, it never really hurts to add another mug to your collection! This one is just $17.95, which is cheaper than some of the Disney mugs.

We always need new mugs.

Mitsukoshi is a great place to shop for souvenirs if you’re looking for something non-Disney. They’ve got all kinds of character merchandise in here that isn’t princesses or Pixar!

The Fjording

And finally, the last new thing that we spotted was in The Fjording in the Norway Pavilion. This week, they had bottles of wine in stock for $17.99 each. We’re not used to finding that in this store!

The Fjording is selling wine now!

So that’s a wrap on everything new that we found in EPCOT this week! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news and updates, considering we’re visiting the theme parks daily.
