Review: Star Wars Food With a Little Spice? We Can Get Behind This, Disney!

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is home to some pretty iconic eats on both coasts including blue milk, green milk, and the much beloved Ronto Wrap.

Galaxy’s Edge

Over the past few months, however, we’ve seen Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge get a little extra special attention when it comes to food! Back in June we tried a new Cold Brew drink there (which was topped with chocolate puffs!) and in November we tried all kinds of new snacks (quite a few of which were DELICIOUS) as part of the Life Day Celebrations. Now it looks like Disneyland is at it again with NEW food in Galaxy’s Edge, but how will this new creation taste?!

Over at Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park (California) a new dish has arrived — the Dewback Chili Noodles!

Our Noodles

Those who are very familiar with the Star Wars universe will recognize the word “Dewback” as the name of a species of animal from the films. According to StarWars.com the Dewback is a “rugged reptile” that has a thick hide. These are said to be “plodding but reliable mounts.” You might event be able to find a Dewback at the Creature Stall — we found one back in 2019!

Dewback at The Creature Stall

Of course you’re not eating actual Dewback with this dish (thank goodness). The Dewback Chili Noodles are made with Spiced Pappardelle Noodles and Gingered Ground Pork with Brussels Sprout Leaves and Shredded Red Cabbage. The dish is priced at $15.49.

What Do You Think?

So what did these noodles taste like and are they worth the cost? Well, the noodles themselves were nice and big and they had just a little bit of spice to them! It was really nice to get just that little bit of kick when eating this dish. It wasn’t an overwhelming amount of spiciness, but just enough to add a bit of a punch to this meal.

Star Wars food with a bit of spice is something we can get behind! It sort-of reminded us in that way of the Kaadu Pork Belly Slider we had in Oga’s Cantina in Disneyland back in November which had ingredients that added a complex heat to the flavor profile of the dish.

The ground pork included in the Dewback Noodles dish tasted really good. It wasn’t overly cooked or dry, and had a little ginger-y taste to it, which complimented the overall flavors of the dish perfectly.

The Noodles

We didn’t really taste the cabbage or the Brussels sprout leaves, but they did add a little crunch which was nice from a texture perspective.

The dish isn’t exactly cheap at $15.49, but it was a pretty big portion so that was good. We wish the dish had a little bit more ground pork to make it better and heartier, but overall it was really tasty!

Would You Try Them?

If you’re looking for a filling meal or for something with a little spice, this could be a great dish to try! If you’re not a fan of pork or spice though, this is probably not the dish for you.
