Nearly 5,000 Flights Have Been Canceled This Weekend

Have you seen any snow recently? In many parts of the country, some nasty winter weather is expected to stick around for the weekend, so now’s the time to bundle up and bunker down! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you might want to keep your eyes on the forecast. A few airlines are warning passengers about possible weather-related delays and cancelations ahead of the winter storm!

Travel delays are never fun!

In fact, we’re already seeing some flight cancelations, so let’s take a look at the current situation.

Airports located throughout the East Coast are warning passengers about weather-related flight cancelations. So far, nearly 5,000 flights have already been canceled between Friday and Saturday, according to a report on The New York Times.

In the northeast, several states are experiencing blizzard-like conditions, resulting in travel delays both in-air and on the ground. Some areas are even expecting up to two feet of snow.

Orlando Airport

On Friday, January 28th, New York City’s La Guardia Airport was forced to cancel 232 flights, while Kennedy International Airport had 209 canceled flights. Nearby, Newark Liberty Airport canceled 167 flights, according to The New York Times. Additionally, the Boston Logan International Airport reportedly experienced multiple flight cancelations/delays.

In the event of a flight cancelation, don’t panic! Although it’s never fun to miss a flight, in most cases, guests will receive some sort of travel voucher they can put towards another flight. Be sure to contact your airline!

Always double-check your flight information!
