CDC Issues ‘Do Not Travel’ Warning for Canada

The travel industry has continued to be impacted by COVID-19, especially as the Omicron variant spreads.

Many Disney fans have said that the variant has changed their travel plans, while thousands of flights have been canceled around the country in the past month. And now, there is a new travel advisory for people in the United States due to the variant.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. State Department have issued a “Do Not Travel” warning for Canada as COVID-19 cases rise due to the Omicron variant, according to Reuters via NBC News.

The CDC raised its travel recommendation to “Level Four: Very High” for Canada, telling Americans to avoid travel to the country. The State Department also issued a “Level Four: Do Not Travel” advisory for the country.

American should avoid traveling to Canada

The CDC has about 80 destinations worldwide at Level Four right now.

The U.S. lifted travel restrictions at its borders with Canada and Mexico back in November for fully vaccinated travelers. But, Canada recently broke its one-day record for the highest number of people hospitalized with COVID-19, according to Reuters via NBC News. A couple weeks ago, officials said new daily cases had gone up by 65%.
