ALL the NEW Disney Series and Movies Coming in 2022

If you thought 2021 was a banner year for new Disney shows and movies, then just buckle up for the year ahead! The new year brings a new slate of Disney content, and we’re breaking it ALL down!

More of this in 2022, please

Between Disney+ and movie theaters, we have a feeling we’ll be clocking a LOT of hours in front of screens this year, so let’s take a look at all the NEW stuff coming down the pipe in 2022!

If Disney wants to one-up itself with new series and movies this year, it’s got its work cut out for itself. After all, 2021 was the year of WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, Encanto, Luca, Raya and the Last Dragon, and of yeah, ALL the new Marvel movies!

It’s WandaVision… on a bus!

Looks like Disney is keeping that momentum going STRONG into 2022, according to their impressive lineup slated to hit streaming and theaters! Without further ado, here are ALL the new Disney series and movies coming in 2022!

Why Some Analysts Are Concerned About Disney+

January

Kicking off the year is a new Disney+ original movie, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, which begins streaming on Disney+ on January 28th!

Based on the Ice Age films, we didn’t expect to see this intellectual property pop up on Disney+, but we’re here for it and will tune in to see what happens!

Everything Coming to Disney+ in January

We’ll get to reunite with the Proud Family and see their new adventures on February 23rd.

Almost 2 Years In, is Disney+ or Netflix Winning the Streaming Wars?

March

The first big new movie of the year is Turning Red, a Pixar film that was first announced a thousand years ago in 2020! From the same director as Bao (AKA the movie that made us all WEEP), the movie tells the story of an awkward teenager named Mei Mei, who turns into a red panda when she gets too excited. Girl SAME.

This flick will drop exclusively on Disney+ on March 11th.

Also tentatively set for a March debut on Disney+, we’re getting a whole new take on the Cheaper by the Dozen franchise! In case the 1950 original, or 2003 remake weren’t enough, this one stars Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff as the parents of a LOT of kids.

April

A new year brings a fresh new crop of live-action Disney remakes, starting with a fun new twist on Chip ’N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers! Heading to Disney+, this one is part live-action and part-CGI, starring Andy Samberg and John Mulaney as the titular chipmunks — sign us UP! (Here’s hoping that BOP of a theme song makes a return as well!)

It’s your time to shine

We loved seeing the little Rescue Rangers Easter Egg in the rebooted Ducktales, so we can only imagine the adventures and antics our favorite chipmunks will get into in this new series.

18 AWESOME Movies and Shows You Had No Idea Were On Disney+

May

The first BIG new movie of 2022 looks to be the next epic chapter in Marvel’s Phase 4: Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Hot on the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and featuring none other than Wanda herself, this one hits theaters May 6th.

Dr. Strange Teaching the Mystic Arts

If you’ve been waiting for a basketball-inspired take on Cinderella, your time has come. Originally due in February, May 13th sees the Disney+ release of Sneakerella, a new live-action reimagining of Cinderella, featuring sneaker tycoons, basketball stars, and if we’re being honest, far more sensible footwear than glass slippers.

©Disney

If Disney does any two movie categories well, they are inspiring sports stories (like Mighty Ducks: Gamechangers, Miracle, and Big Shot) and Disney’s bread and butter, fairytales. Sneakerella seems to be the hybrid of a perfect combo and we’re here for it.

How Disney+ Will Continue to Save the Walt Disney Company

June

Disney loves a good origin story. Just look at the success of Maleficent and Cruella! For their next origin story, they’re veering away from villains and into the Pixar universe with a standalone Lightyear film, with the star character voiced by none other than Captain America himself, Chris Evans! The movie is tentatively slated to hit theaters June 17th.

See the hero that inspired the action figure, and see just how similar they actually are to each other.
