7 of the BEST Pieces of TRIVIA We’ve Heard from Disney Cast Members

Cast Members are such an important part of the Disney Parks.

Cast Members are magic!

They can make extra magic for folks, create special experiences, and they often brighten our whole day! We love chatting with them, too, because they have some pretty fun facts about the parks. So, here is some of the BEST Disney trivia we’ve learned from Cast Members!

Jackie Chan is in Disney California Adventure

If you are a fan of Disney history or visited California Adventure back in 2001, you may remember a little ride called Superstar Limo. The ride was a pretty big failure — it wasn’t even open for a year partly due to the negative feedback it received. So, it was later turned into Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!

What the ride looks like today

A Cast Member told us that the CDA animatronics in the ride are actually just the old Superstar Limo celebrities dressed up in their uniforms! And, you can specifically see Jackie Chan and Drew Carey based on their poses in the ride! Talk about a crossover nobody asked for, right?!

This is a fun little tidbit to share with people, mainly because it sounds so bizarre!

The Secret to a Good Seat at Luigi’s

Also in Disney California Adventure Park, a Cast Member once told us the secret to getting the center cars every time at Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters over in Cars Land.

Apparently, you’ll end up in the center cars for the choreography if you choose the car in the middle of the back row on the left side. As for the right side, choose the car on the left (we know, it’s a bit confusing, but it makes sense in person!).

There’s A River of WHAT in Liberty Square?!

Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom has some very interesting details to make it more accurate to the time period. The MOST interesting is probably the brown pathway that runs through the land.

Have you ever noticed?

Have you ever noticed that there aren’t any bathrooms in Liberty Square? Yeah, that’s on purpose. Indoor plumbing wasn’t a thing during colonial times — people used buckets in the house and dumped them into the street. So, sewage just kind of…ran through the streets. And, that brown pathway is…well, we’re pretty sure you can figure it out🥴. If not, just ask a Cast Member, they’ll tell you!

The infamous river.

But that’s not the only fun detail in Liberty Square! If you look up at the shutters, you’ll see that they’re all pretty much crooked.

Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

This is because during the time, shutters were hung with things like leather instead of metal, so they became crooked over time! And also because of regular use, as shutters were actually functional and not just decorative during this era.

Vintage EPCOT Lives in the Bathrooms

We were once chatting with a Cast Member over at Journey Into Imagination with Figment in EPCOT about how much we miss the old, original EPCOT music. Little did we know she was about to make our day! The Cast Member told us to go into the bathrooms around the right side/back of the pavilion (where you can usually find characters like Joy and Winnie the Pooh hanging out recently).

Extra Joyful Joy

In here, the OG EPCOT SCORE WAS BEING PLAYED! We checked it out and it was like stepping back in time. The first thing we heard when walking in was Magic Journeys, and we wanted to hang out in the bathroom all day (weird, yes, but worth it? Maybe). Also, a special shout out to this Cast Member, as she is also the one who told us about the incredible Captain Eeyore, the Captain EO fan film made by CMs!

Interesting Islands in Seven Seas Lagoon

While on the ferry to Magic Kingdom, the boat captain was telling us about the islands in Seven Seas Lagoon! One of the islands located in the lagoon is used as the launching point for perimeter fireworks, like during New Year’s Eve, as it’s the closest to Magic Kingdom.

Then, there’s Beachcomber Island, which is closest to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian hotels. It’s covered in vegetation now, but it was once the home to the wave machine that was once used in the lagoon! Yep, waves used to be created in the lagoon across from the Polynesian and surfing was a resort activity for guests. But, the wave machine caused beach erosion and navigational issues for boats on the water, so it was shut down. But, you can still see some of the wall if you look closely.

And, the island near the water bridge that connects Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake is called Blackbeard Island, in case you were wondering!

Figment is an Avenger

Well, not really, but wouldn’t that be amazing? We have a talking tree — why not a little purple dragon?! Even though Figment is not in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (yet!), he is in one of the rides in California Adventure! At Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! you can actually find Figment.

He’s up there!

If you look up high near the top of the room, Figment is hanging out inside one of the terrariums! So, come on, Marvel — put Figment in the MCU already!!

Hidden Haunted Mansion Spirits

Disneyland gets a The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay at their Haunted Mansion for the holidays (which is amazing, BTW), but did you know that Jack Skellington also makes some appearances in Disney World’s Haunted Mansion? You can find the Pumpkin King in between the eyebrows of the old man that turns into a skeleton in the picture before the stretching room.

The Stretching Room

There are actually several Tim Burton references throughout the ride! Another can be found in the library scene. You can see a The Nightmare Before Christmas book on the table. And, there’s another hidden Jack in the attic! On the right-hand side of the bride behind books, there is a Jack figurine.

“Beating Heart” Attic Bride

Those aren’t the only things hidden in the Haunted Mansion, though! People think the official hidden Mickey is in the plates during the ballroom scene, but actually, it’s in the Grim Reaper’s ghost hand towards the end of the ride in the graveyard scene! You have to turn around a bit to see it.
