Traveling To Disneyland Paris From The UK? New Restrictions Could Impact Your Trip

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

Over the past two years, Disney Parks all over the world have continued to make changes to adapt to the ongoing global health crisis.

And health and safety guidelines continue to change — we saw the mask policy change several times at Disney World this year, we’ve seen Hong Kong Disneyland close temporarily just recently due to COVID-19 cases, and we’ve seen Tokyo Disneyland recently extend its restricted hours and alcohol ban. And now, there are some new travel restrictions in place in France that could affect visits to Disneyland Paris.

The French government has announced that as of December 18th, 2021, travelers coming from the U.K. will need to meet new criteria to enter the country. And that new criteria is that the trip must be deemed as essential, meaning that leisure travel to Disneyland Paris is currently available to U.K. guests.

In July, the French government passed a health and safety requirement for gatherings of more than 50 people that required all guests to have a “sanitary pass.” This pass serves as proof that a person has had a recent negative COVID-19 test, has received a COVID-19 vaccine, or has recently recovered from the virus. This “safety pass” was soon implemented as a requirement at Disneyland Paris, along with a requirement that all guests ages six and over wear a mask at all times in the parks, except when taking photos and while eating and drinking while stationary.

However, as of December 18th, even those U.K. guests with a sanitary pass are unable to visit Disneyland Paris unless they have proof that their trip there is deemed as essential travel. For those U.K. guests who have already booked trips, Disneyland Paris has adjusted its booking and cancellation policy, giving those guests several options:

  • Guests with hotel and ticket packages can postpone their date of arrival at the same price they originally booked, as long as no components of the trip change (excluding transportation arrangements that can be rebooked) for arrivals until March 30th, 2022 (excluding the period from December 16th-January 8th). However, this is subject to hotel availability on the newly-booked dates.
  • OR guests can cancel their stay and receive a full refund. Note that those who wish to rebook a hotel and ticket package or a hotel room only for an arrival date from March 31st, 2022, will be “able to do so at the prevailing price and conditions.”

Non-dated tickets owned by guests will remain valid up to and including March 31st, 2022. However, dated tickets can be canceled for a full refund up to three days prior to the day of arrival — this can be done by visiting your Disneyland account. Also, those guests who are within a 3-day window of traveling from the U.K. can cancel dated tickets and receive full refunds. Guests are encouraged to contact [email protected] to cancel tickets.

Although tickets for the New Year’s Eve Party or a Secure Your Seat Ticket for The Lion King Show are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged, guests with these tickets who cannot travel from the U.K. may request to cancel those tickets for a full refund by contacting the above email address. And U.K. guests who booked their tickets through a third party should contact that party directly.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation at Disneyland Paris, as well as at Disney Parks around the world, and make sure you have the latest information.
