Disney World’s theme parks aren’t the only places to go for holiday treats! While we enjoyed some returning sweets today like the deliciously spiced Menagerie Cupcake at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we also checked out the resort hotels to see what festive snacks they had this season!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, we found a pair of treats at The Mara that may be worth going out of your way to try (while you’re there, check out their gorgeous tree in the lobby and say hi to some of their animals!).
When we arrived at The Mara, however, we noticed that neither treat was in the display case. They do have them in stock; you just have to ask!
The Mara
First up is the cutest cookie we ever did see, the Gingeraffe!
Behold! The Gingeraffe!
This is a a simple gingerbread cookie in the shape of a giraffe with a gingerbread Christmas tree as a backdrop layered with cinnamon and ginger spiced icing with a decorative sugar snowflake on top.
Just too adorable!
Cuteness aside, this cookie is actually a solid deal! At just $4.99 you’re technically getting two LARGE cookies, which is a pretty great bargain if you ask us! The gingerbread itself was nice and soft but it held it shape together as we ate it! Like many of the other ginger treats we’ve tried this season, this cookie is BIG on ginger flavor so you’ll need to be a true gingerbread fan to enjoy.

Next up is the Chocolate and Peppermint Cookie Sandwich! This treat is also $4.99 and is made up of two Smoked Chocolate and Spice Cookies with Peppermint Buttercream in the middle.

This was another cute treat with a design that screams “holidays.” The peppermint flavor was very strong, so be prepared before you take a bite! The two chocolate cookies were very good! While they were on the softer chewy side we did have a harder time biting into them because it was served to us pretty cold! When you let them come to room temperature, however, they get even more chewy and lovely!

We aren’t totally sold on whether or not kids would be into this cookie because of the minty flavor, but it’s a gorgeous holiday treat and we enjoyed it!

Overall, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is serving up two solid snack options for the month of December. If you’re in the area now through December 31st, looking for something festive to munch on, and are fans of either ginger or peppermint, definitely head over to The Mara and try them out!
