What Will Be DIFFERENT About Pin Trading in Disney World

Pin trading is a time-honored tradition in Disney World.

Pin trading

Guests can collect Disney pins and then trade with other guests or Cast Members inside the park. We saw a few changes to pin trading when Disney World reopened last year, and now even more changes are happening. Here’s what you need to know if you want to do some pin trading in Disney World.

It looks like the board method of pin trading is here to stay. Beginning tomorrow (October 15th), some Cast Member will have special, Mickey-shaped boards with pins on them that you can trade for. You’ll present your pin that you’d like to trade and then choose from the pins on the Mickey board. We’ve already spotted these specially shaped boards in the parks, but it seems more of them may pop up throughout Disney World soon.

Once you’ve picked the pin you want to get, the Cast Member will remove that pin from the board and give it to you in exchange for your Disney pin. Essentially, that’s similar to the process that’s been in place for a little while now.

The big, NEW part coming to pin trading is that there will be Mystery Boxes available! These Mystery Boxes will have a bunch of little drawers that each hold a pin. You’ll present your pin that you want to trade and then choose a drawer from the mystery box. Then you get the pin inside in exchange for your own.

You’ll find the mystery boxes and Mickey boards all around Disney World (including at select resorts and Disney Springs). Check out the guide maps in each park, because the pin trading locations will be marked on there.

As you trade, be sure to look out for 50th Anniversary celebration pins, which will be released throughout the 50th Anniversary celebration.

As a reminder, you can make up to two pin trades at each location in Disney World.

And don’t forget about the big Heroes vs. Villains Digital Pin Trading Experience, which is coming up in December of this year. There are still some Legendary Passes available, which cost $99.99 each.
