What’s New at EPCOT: Lightning Lane Signage Arrives and HUGE Labor Day Crowds

Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at EPCOT!

Welcome to EPCOT!

And, we’ve got plenty of updates to share with you! So, what are you waiting for? Let’s dive right on in!

EPCOT Merchandise Update

Mouse Gear

You KNOW it’s a busy weekend in Disney World when merchandise has begun to sell out in Mouse Gear! Many of the display sections have significantly less items on them.

Let’s Go Shopping!

We noticed that there were plenty of things out of stock like the Villains Wishables, The Nightmare Before Christmas nuiMOs (which also flew off the shelves in the Magic Kingdom), and even multiple plushes from the shelves in the store.

We’ll have to be on the lookout for when things are restocked again at Mouse Gear for your shopping sprees!

Pin Traders

It wouldn’t be Halloween time without a few friends popping up from The Nightmare Before Christmas! And, you can fashion the Zero Pin with pride as you Oogie Boogie on down throughout spooky season in Disney World for $9.99.

EPCOT Construction Update

Attractions

Gone are the days of FastPasses in Disney World…well, almost. Disney has announced that it will be retiring the FastPass service in favor of the Lightning Lanes through Disney Genie+. EPCOT has started to replace its signs around the park, as we’ve seen Lightning Lane notices at Living with the Land…

Hello, new sign!

…and Soarin’.

However, the other attractions haven’t made that change quite yet, as they still have their FastPass signs at the moment! We’ll be sure to keep you updated as the signs continue to change.

EPCOT Crowd Update

While the crowds have been on the relatively quiet side recently in Disney World, Labor Day Weekend brought a BIG influx of people to the parks. It was the busiest weekend that we’ve seen in weeks, as attraction wait times climbed and lots of guests filled the various lands.

Magic Kingdom

Over the course of the weekend, Magic Kingdom steadily remained busy with people. It was definitely nothing like the empty Main Street we’ve seen as of late!

The attractions around the park climbed throughout the day…

EPCOT

On the other hand, EPCOT was a bit more mixed when it came to where the crowds were located. Most of the people in the parks were over at the Food & Wine Festival booths, which had VERY long lines.

Spots like Frozen Ever After were also popular during Labor Day Weekend.

Many attractions had wait times on the lower side. We guess that food and drinks were the priority for everyone! (Same.)

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Like the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios was POPPING during Labor Day Weekend as huge crowds made their way into the parks for the holiday.

Most of the rides reached extremely long wait times with queues that extended away from the actual ride.

Slinky Dog Dash Line

In the afternoon, we saw wait times reach all the way over an hour and a half, which was the exact opposite of the short queues we’ve been experiencing recently.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom may have LOOKED like it had a lot of crowds, but it was a bit of a surprise to us that it wasn’t as bad as it seemed!

Crowds in Animal Kingdom

Flight of Passage literally had no wait earlier in the week last week. But it climbed to nearly an hour wait during Labor Day Weekend.

But, for the most part, the Animal Kingdom wait times were relatively short compared to what we experienced in the other parks!

Take a look at more crowds around Disney World during Labor Day Weekend!
