What’s New in Magic Kingdom: Mysterious Construction and Halloween Festivities!

It’s another beautiful day in Walt Disney World!

What a beautiful day to be here!

Magic Kingdom has been very busy preparing for the Halloween season with snacks, decorations, and new merchandise. But, fall celebrations aren’t the only thing going on — today we’re sharing everything new from our visits to the park in the past few days!

Magic Kingdom Food Update

First up in Magic Kingdom food news is the grand reopening of Columbia Harbour House after more than 16 months of being closed! This quick service restaurant serves up New England fare and we stopped by on the reopening day to check it out (click here to see our experience!).

Columbia Harbour House is BACK, baby!

And since Columbia Harbour House is back up and running, Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant has gone back to a seasonal schedule. This spot was serving the Columbia Harbour House menu for several months.

It’s completely closed in here.

So far, it has been closed every day this week. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to get your fish and chips one way or another!

Magic Kingdom Construction Update

There has been a LOT of construction in Magic Kingdom lately! First, for a really exciting update — Halloween decorations are now up all around the park.

Fall in Magic Kingdom!

We spotted Mickey pumpkin wreaths hanging from the light posts…

We love our Mickey pumpkins.

…and even some adorable pumpkin patches in the castle hub area. How festive!

How cute is this?!

Also, after several months of being covered in scrim, the Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station is finally starting to get unveiled. It looks like it got some paint touch-ups ahead of the 50th Anniversary!

It looks amazing!

And speaking of cosmetic touch-ups for the 50th, several other spots are getting some work done as well. We spotted scaffolding on the outside of Splash Mountain…

There is a LOT of scaffolding over there.

…construction walls outside of Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe

Part of the restaurant is covered in scrim.

…and painting happening around Big Top Souvenirs.

We even spotted workers out one day!

There was also some scaffolding on the outside of Be Our Guest Restaurant. Disney’s really going hardcore into fixing things up this month!

Updates going on over here as well.

And we can’t forget the Tron coaster! Construction is plugging along on this new ride, and we can’t wait to get more details in the future.

It’s coming along!

There’s a lot to look forward to in the coming months, and if this construction is any indication, the parks are going to be in top-notch condition for the celebrations!

Magic Kingdom Merchandise Update

If you thought that there was a lot of construction…just wait until you see all the new merchandise! First up, there are a few new shirts for kids in The Emporium. They’re $19.99 and you can get designs based on The Lion King…

This one has Pumbaa on it!

The Little Mermaid

Who doesn’t love a good mermaid tee?!

…and Monsters, Inc. What a great selection!

Okay, this one is super cute.

There’s also a fun clipboard photo frame that we hadn’t noticed before. This is the perfect place to put your pictures from your vacation to Disney World!

This would look great on a shelf or coffee table.

There were several new phone cases in Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. next to Space Mountain.

We spotted a Minnie Mouse and a Millennium Falcon design!

Some of the cases were Kingdom Hearts designs! What a fun accessory — they’re even in 3-D.

New cases!

And if you like the phone case, you can even get a matching MagicBand design. It’s one of the new options at the design-your-own kiosk!

Stop by the store’s kiosk to check out the other options.

In Uptown Jewelers, we spotted some new Loungefly backpacks for $80 each. Marvel fans will love the new Spider-Man design!

We NEED this.

And there’s also a Captain Marvel pattern that’s not too over-the-top.

This backpack type is very popular right now!

If you love The Mandalorian on Disney+, then this adorable new Grogu backpack will be the perfect addition to your wardrobe. But, we’ll warn you — this design has been very popular!

He’s too precious to pass up.

Besides those items, a BUNCH of new Halloween merchandise dropped ahead of the season kickoff. We got everything from shirts to ears to pins to shoes!

Halloween Merchandise is all over the place!

And we should also let you know that we had a particularly difficult time finding face masks for sale in the park. There seemed to be a shortage of them in many places around the property. This isn’t too surprising, considering the recent policy change.

There are a lot of items, but face masks are hard to find.

We’ll continue to keep an eye out for all the new products releasing daily in the parks.

Magic Kingdom Attractions Update

After being closed for more than a year, Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor had its soft opening on August 5th, with the official opening on August 8th! The show is just as funny as we remember, with lots of audience participation and the star of the show, “that guy.” (If you know, you know. 😉)

Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Also, we noticed several attraction malfunctions on August 9th. At one point in the day, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Liberty Square Riverboat were all closed due to technical difficulties.

It was closed for a large portion of the day.

In fact, we’ve seen Splash Mountain having issues multiple times this week. If you want to ride it on your visit, try and get it in early in the day!

Magic Kingdom Crowds Update

It has been VERY busy these days.

The parks have been really crowded in general, so make sure to plan ahead and arrive as early as you can in the mornings to avoid the longest wait times.

Be prepared to wait in lines!
