Stricter LIMIT Placed on Merchandise Purchases in Disney World

It’s nearly impossible to visit Disney World without at least walking through a gift shop; and each store is typically filled with lots of different, sometimes new and very popular, items to pick from.

From new Mickey ears to the latest Crocs, there’s a wide variety of souvenirs you could bring home. But, Disney has recently implemented a new merchandise policy that you need to know about before your next visit.

In the past, we’ve seen Disney implement stricter merchandise limits than usual on select items. Back in November of 2020, for example, Disney placed a stricter limit on how many items a guest could buy from select limited edition merchandise releases.

And just recently, we saw that Disney placed a 2-per-item limit on newly released Halloween merchandise.

While we were walking around Magic Kingdom today, however, we noticed that the 2-per-item limit had been extended to other, non-Halloween items. Over at Star Traders in Magic Kingdom, we spotted signs indicating that there was a 2-per-item, per guest limit on purchases for items all throughout the store.

We spoke with a Cast Member there and they told us that the limit is generally applicable throughout the store and is actually being applied to nearly all merchandise throughout Magic Kingdom. When we asked why the limit had been placed, the Cast Member mentioned that it was mostly a supply issue and that they were a bit more limited in terms of their merchandise supply at the moment.

We made our way over to the Emporium and were able to chat with a Cast Member there as well. The Cast Member at the Emporium told us that, as of today, the two per item, per guest rule has been implemented property wide throughout Disney World.

It’s unclear how long this merchandise limit will be in effect, but we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more updates on that. If you’ll be visiting Disney World soon, just be sure to keep this merchandise limit in mind. Make sure you check whether the limit is still in effect during your trip, and whether it is in effect for the merchandise you’re looking to buy and/or the park/store you’re visiting.
