Review: We Found Your Next Date Night Spot in Disney World

Toledo at the Gran Destino Tower in Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is a luxurious rooftop restaurant that serves up delicious Spanish-inspired fine dining.

Toledo at Disney’s Gran Destino Tower at the Coronado Resort

Recently, Toledo reopened and we stopped by to check it out. We’ve had a pretty good meal here before so we headed back to Toledo for another dinner full of steak, steak, and…oh yeah…STEAK! Let’s see if all our carnivorous dreams came true.

Atmosphere

Toledo is a rooftop restaurant in the newer Gran Destino Tower of Coronado Springs. This spot is posh and quite fancy looking with a gorgeous pink and orange ceiling that changes color throughout the night and plenty of olive trees (spoiler alert: the trees are fake!).

Inside Toledo’s main dining room

Along with a large main dining room, there are also private dining rooms. Since Coronado is a popular resort for conferences, these dining rooms can be great for business parties (or for enjoying a nice special dinner with your extended family!).

One of Toledo’s private dining areas

Oh…and did we mention the view? You can see sooooo much from here! You can easily spot Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Blizzard Beach from the top of Gran Destino Tower.

What a view!

If heights aren’t your thing, there’s a whole ‘nother view to enjoy: a look into the kitchen! This isn’t the full kitchen, but it’s nice to see a little bit of the culinary action on display.

You can see the action!

There’s plenty of seating here, with lots of chairs and booths to go around. The big cozy half-circle booths look extra inviting!

Inside Toledo

Finally, we took a seat and glanced at the new menu!

Eats

Taking a look at the menu, it’s easy to spot that this location has lots of Tapas on the menu! With options like Pan con Tomate and Charred Octopus, you can’t go wrong with these Spanish-inspired offerings.

Tapas

Toledo also offers a wide range of entreés including Grouper for $34Marinated Hanger Steak for $32, and Brick Over Cauliflower for $34 alongside an array of side dishes!

Menu

There are plenty of unique sides and desserts to choose from as well.

Sides and Desserts

Kids have plenty to choose from as well.

Kids’ Menu

The drink menu here is extensive. There’s a range of hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks.

No Booze Drinks

Most of the hot drinks without alcohol are coffee-based drinks.

Hot non-alcoholic drinks

You can get some of them with alcohol as well, if you’re looking for a nice after-dinner drink or it’s a chilly day (those do happen occasionally!). Being a Spanish restaurant, sweet wines are plentiful here as well.

Hot drinks with booze and Sweet Wines

A number of Spanish after-dinner spirits are available too.

Spirits

Then, of course, we have a selection of specialty cocktails.

Cocktails

The restaurant also offers a prix fixe option called the Chef’s Signature Meal for Two for $129, which we’ll be trying out today.

What we’re ordering today!

To start off our meal, we got the Gran Gin and Tonic with Tanqueray Gin, House-made Saffron-Orange Tonic, and Soda Water for $15. This drink was fabulous and we wouldn’t expect less from the signature drink of Gran Destino Tower. We’ve had this drink before at Barcelona Lounge and really enjoyed it then too, though it was more orange than yellow then! This drink isn’t overly sweet and the quality of the gin really comes through. We thought the rosemary sprig was a nice little touch. Overall, this was a wonderful, refreshing drink.

The Gran Gin and Tonic!

Next, we grabbed the Tequila Daisy with Don Julio Blanco Tequila, Torres Magdala Naranjas del Mediterráneo, Grapefruit, Lime, Hibiscus, and Soda Water for $14! This one was SUPER good and very light and refreshing. The tequila was front and center, but the citrus and the floral notes are clearly there too. The flavors weren’t in-your-face, they were a bit more on the subtle side. We really enjoyed this one, especially paired with the appetizers we’ll show you in a sec!

The Tequila Daisy

Now, it’s time to get into the Chef’s Signature Meal for Two, a prix fixe offering that costs $129! To start off our prix fixe meal, we were served the Flight of Four Pinxtos with Chilled Mussels ‘Escabèche’, Olive Oil-poached Tuna with Lemon, ‘Tortilla Española’ Spanish Potato Omelet, Valdeón Blue Cheese with Fig and Honey.

The Pinxtos!

The ‘Tortilla Española’ Spanish Potato Omelet, despite being made from potatoes and prosciutto, reminded us of a quiche. The flavor on this one was more on the mild side but we really enjoyed it! The prosciutto was delicious.

The ‘Tortilla Española’ Spanish Potato Omelet

The Olive Oil-poached Tuna with Lemon was heartier than we expected! We’re not always the biggest fans of tuna, but this one won us over! The bread had a nice crunch and we loved all the different flavors coming from the microgreens, the green onion sauce, and the lemon-poached tuna. It was a complex and fun bite!

Olive Oil-poached Tuna with Lemon

The Chilled Mussels ‘Escabèche’was our favorite Pinxto of the night! It was surprisingly spicy, but none of the other flavors overpowered the briny, oceany flavor of the mussels. A really well done, balanced bite!

Chilled Mussels ‘Escabèche’

The Valdeón Blue Cheese with Fig and Honey was an absolute delight! Fair warning: this one is LOADED with blue cheese, so steer clear if you’re not a fan. However, if you like blue cheese, you’re in luck! The pairing of fig and cheese is a classic for a reason, this was delicious!

Mmmm… blue cheese and figs!

Next course was The Spaniard, a charcuterie board with 6-Month Manchego, Valdeon Bleu Cheese, Naked Goat Cheese, Lomo Iberico, Jamon Serrano, Chorizo, Jamon Iberico, Green Olives, Picholine Olives, Kalamata Olives, Castelvetrano Olives, House pickles, Sourdough bread, Marcona Almonds from Spanish, Dried apricots, and Spanish Torta! There’s a lot on this one plate and we’re VERY happy about it!

Wow!

There was a plentiful supply of meat and cheese on this board with a ton of variety. We really enjoyed the blue and manchego cheeses, but you really can’t go wrong with anything on this board.

Cheeeeese!!!!

One of the major highlights here was the meat! The Jamon Iberico was especially delicious, it was so creamy and melt-in-your-mouth; it tasted phenomenal! The olives, apricots, and other accompaniments kept us interested. This was a GREAT charcuterie board (and if you know us, you know we love a good charcuterie!).

Lots of great meat!

It’s entreé time! We were served the Chuletón Bone-In Rib-Eye with Tomato, Onions, and choice of two House Sides! There is a LOT of meat on this plate and we’re not mad about it at all! The steak was melt in your mouth and perfect at medium-rare (which is the temp recommended by the chef!). The seasoning was on point. Even the fat on this steak was delicious (no judgment, right?)!

The Ribeye!

This steak was SUPER juicy and we loved every bite! Even the grilled veggies were killer. Otherwise boring grilled tomato and onion tasted so bright and fresh contrasted with the char from the grill. There was plenty for two to share here. We highly recommend ordering this entree if you like steak at all — it was amazing!

So juicy!

Now, about those two sides… first we got the Brussels Sprouts and we’re not kidding when we say these were some of the best brussels sprouts we’ve ever had! They were nice and crispy and weren’t too oily or overcooked. Seriously, these blew our minds.

Delicious Brussels Sprouts!

For our second side, we got Olive Oil-Potato Purée! We thought that the Brussels Sprouts couldn’t be topped, but this potato purée gives it a serious run for its money. The potatoes are hand-whipped with manchego cheese and olive oil and they are soooooo creamy! This is the perfect side, we’ll take this over boring ol’ mashed potatoes any day!

These were so yummy!

Last (but certainly not least) we were served The Toledo Tapas Bar for dessert with Spanish Coffee, crunchy Chocolate, Raspberry Mousse, and Lemon Curd for dessert! We’ve had this before and loved it. It’s such a fun concept — it’s a progressive bar that changes flavor as you go along! This bar is super rich and chocolatey, so make sure to share this one (the prix fixe IS for two, after all!). Each bite is a different flavor meant to be enjoyed one after the other. Cool, huh? This dessert is truly delicious and a fun way to end the meal!

The delicious bar!

All the toppings were amazing on this one, but the lemon curd topping really stood out. The tart lemon with the rich dark chocolate made this treat extra delicious!

Yum!

Holy smokes, overall, we were floored by this prix fixe meal, we loved every bite!

Nosh or Not

Stop by Toledo if…

  • You’re looking for a great date night! With a great meal for two, a romantic rooftop atmosphere, this is the perfect way to have a Disney date night.
  • You love great charcuterie! That charcuterie board was seriously amazing! If you appreciate a great board of meat and cheese, you’ll love Toledo. Grab a few drinks and enjoy a long night over this board.
  • You’re looking for a signature meal without the signature price. This is a definite “bang for your buck” Disney restaurant. Sure some stuff like that steak are on the pricier end, but most tapas is 10-12 dollars and entrees are reasonable in the 20-30 range.

Steer Clear of Toledo if…

  • You don’t like “fancy” food or Spanish cuisine. This place serves signature fine dining centered around Spanish cuisine.
  • You’re scared of heights! Although might not be a huge problem, you might want to at least request a seat away from the windows if you’re afraid of heights.
  • You’re far away from Coronado! It can be a bit of a trek to get here, but it all depends on if it’s worth it to you!

Overall

You know how you don’t go to a place often and forget just how good it is? That’s Toledo. Its downfall is that it’s in a hotel most guests, if not already staying there, would think to go experience. But every component of this meal was downright outstanding. The service was super helpful and attentive, and we were given tons of great suggestions by our waiter. This place sits pretty close to the top of the list for us in terms of resort restaurants.

The food is definitely Spanish but not so much so that guests would be turned off by the cuisine if they prefer a more simple menu. We loved the heavy use of olive oils, cured meats, cheeses, olives, and other flavors synonymous with Spain. Just thinking about that makes us want to be sipping a glass of Port over that charcuterie board again! The prices aren’t terrible either. The prix fixe was $130 before tax for a 4-course meal for 2 (and most of that was that 90 dollar steak!). The food here is carefully and thoughtfully prepared but isn’t so expensive you’re breaking the bank. If you find yourself at Coronado Springs Gran Destino Tower or are just looking for a special date night while at Disney World, don’t sleep on this one.
