REVIEW: The Sides are the STARS of the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival’s Kenya Booth!

One of this year’s “new” EPCOT Food and Wine Festival additions, the Kenya booth, has arrived early today!

Kenya is OPEN!

Featuring old favorites in a new location, this booth has a small but mighty menu. If it’s anything like the Africa booth of years past, then we know we’re going to love it! Let’s get into it!

Menu

Although Disney lists this as a new booth, the menu items are not new. The booth is serving up 2 dishes we’ve seen at the Food & Wine Festival (at booths that went by a different name) in the past — the Kenyan Coffee Barbecue Beef Tenderloin and the Piri Piri Skewered Shrimp.

Kenya’s Menu!

There is one drink on the menu — the Tusker Lager.

Food

We started with the gluten-free option, the Kenyan Coffee Barbecue Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato & Corn Mealie Pap and Kachumbari Slaw for $6! For anyone who went to the 2019 Food and Wine Fest, this is a familiar sight. Okay, so the tenderloin was flavorful, but it was cooked a little more than we usually prefer. And the coffee rub is a nice addition.

But our favorite part of this dish was the Sweet Potato and Corn Mealie Pap –it’s SOOOOOOO good. It’s was just creamy, buttery, and delicious. Can we just like get a plate of this? The Kachumbari Slaw was also a great side — the veggies were super fresh and crunchy.

The sides stole the show

We also got the Piri Piri Skewered Shrimp with Citrus-scented Couscous for $6.75! Now, this was some delicious smoky-flavored shrimp. It’s a decent serving size, too — you get a total of five shrimp. The couscous didn’t blow us away, but it was tasty enough — we liked the hint of citrus we got with each bite.

There’s also a salsa-like side here, and that was a hit. It’s got beans, tomatoes, onions, and peppers, and just adds a lot of flavor to the overall plate.

This is delicious

The sides seem to outshine the main part of the plate.

Overall

If you’re looking for strong and unique flavor, head to the Kenya booth at this year’s EPCOT Food and Wine Festival! These dishes pack a punch, and we ended up liking the sides on each dish the most. The Sweet Potato and Corn Mealie Pap was a stand out here, give it a try on your next visit to the festival!

That’s all we have from the Kenya booth today! We’re keeping track of the latest Disney news and we’ve got all the details for this year’s festival. Stay tuned for more!
