With the majority of the characters of the Fab 50 Character Collection having been revealed, there’s still a few more to go and we added to more to the list with addition of a new statue headed for Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the World’s Most Magical Celebration. PHOTOS: Fall Décor Arrives on Main Street U.S.A. at Disneyland with The Giant Mickey Jack-O-Lantern

mickey jack-o-lantern 5

It’s that time of year again where the weather starts to turn and the leaves start changing colors, but what says Halloween more than a giant Mickey-shaped jack-o-lantern? We’ve already seen the first of the fall decorations being put up over in Disney World. Now it’s Disneyland’s turn. Yellow and orange bunting drapes along the sides of the buildings along with “Halloween Time” displays on the lampposts. The Mickey jack-o-lantern, surrounded by yellow flowers, smiles on people as they first […]

REVIEW: This is the :fire: Spiciest :fire: Caramel Apple We’ve EVER Tried in Disney World!

If you have a big sweet tooth, Disney World is the place to be!

Halloween Milkshake!

Dole whip, cupcakes, cookies, milkshakes, and more can be found all around the parks, and we try to taste as many as possible! So today, when we found a really interesting new treat in Animal Kingdom, we just had to taste for ourselves!

This is the Chamoy Caramel Apple from Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Africa!

We HAVE to try this!!

It’s a green apple dipped in caramel and then covered with Tajín seasoning and it has a little pipette filled with chamoy for $10.99!

So pretty!

Tajín is a blend of mild chili peppers, lime, and sea salt, while chamoy is a condiment from Mexico that is made with fruit such as apricot, mango, or plum, as well as chilies and lime juice! It is typically served as a dip for fresh fruit.

Have you ever seen a treat like this in Disney?!

The green apple is tart and crisp, while the caramel is gooey and delicate with a perfect amount of sweetness.

This thing is a bit of a task to eat!

The Tajín is spicy to the tongue, but it creates a unique sweet-sour-tangy-spicy taste when paired with the caramel and the apple!

We got it open!

The chamoy is spicier than the Tajín, and has a kick of sour at the end.

Everything combined pairs very well together to make a uniquely delicious and interesting treat!

Add as little or as much chamoy as you want!

This spicy caramel apple is available from now until September 15th, which is the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month! We’ll be on the lookout for any other festive treats, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

PLEASE Let This Be a Sign That Churro Toffee Will Eventually Come to Disney World

There are several snacks around Disney’s theme parks that are iconic. One of those is the Disney Churro!

CHURRO!

While there are some tasty churros in Disney World, some out there might argue that the churros at Disneyland are superior. The California resort has had quite the plethora of churro treats, from the classic churro to fun flavors like S’mores and Fluffernutter. And, of course, there’s the incredibly scrumptious and magical Churro Toffee. But this time, we’re having a churro palooza in Disney World! That’s right — we found FOUR (!!!) churro-themed treats in Disney World today. But, are any of these worth the cash and calories? We had to find out!

Just where in Disney World did this cinnamon-sugar-filled party happen? We’re glad you asked! We found these amazing treats in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, at Zuri’s Sweets Shop. You can find this confectionary oasis over near Harambe, on your way to the Kilimanjaro Safaris attraction

Zuri’s Sweets Shop

We stopped by to see if there were any Halloween treats (we did spot some adorable Halloween treats here in case you were wondering), but we were pleasantly surprised to find an abundance of new churro treats!

Treats at Zuri’s Sweet Shop

Let’s take a look at what we found. There was the Churro Sugar Cookie, the Churro Mickey Rice Krispie, the Churro Mickey Marshmallow Treat, and the Churro Cupcake. That’s a LOT of churro treats folks.

ALL the Churro Things!

Honestly, we’re still in awe of all the churro-ness going on in that picture. Once we were done marveling at this churro-flavored party, we dug into the treats to see just how they taste.

First, let’s talk about the Churro Sugar Cookie (not to be confused with Disneyland’s Sugar Cookie Churro).

Churro Sugar Cookie

This treat was made of a sugar cookie with cinnamon-flavored icing swirls, topped with sugar crystals. The cookie itself had a close texture inside, but the flavor was light and airy. The texture was soft and chewy, which we loved!

Churro Cookie

The icing and sugar by themselves were pretty sweet, but all together with the cookie the flavors were delicious! Out of all the churro treats, this one was probably the least sweet. You can get it for $5.49 from Zuri’s Sweets Shop.

Next, we moved on to the Churro Mickey Rice Krispie Treat!

Churro Mickey Rice Crispy Treat

This was a classic rice krispie treat dipped in cinnamon-flavored icing with crumbled Cinnamon Toast cereal sprinkled on top!

A closer look…

The rice krispie treat was fresh and fluffy! The icing was pretty sweet, and we were glad that only half the treat was dipped in it so that the sweetness didn’t overpower things too much. The crumbles on top were a good balance for the sweetness, and we enjoyed the crunch they brought to the soft treat! Unfortunately they were a little bit stale, but the rice krispie itself was definitely fresh. It’s also $5.49 at Zuri’s.

But we’re not done with the churro party yet! Next we tried the Mickey Churro Marshmallow, which is somewhat similar to the churro marshmallow wand we’ve seen before in Disneyland.

Mickey Churro Marshmallow

We’re pretty sure we could hear the churro angels singing as we bit into this divine dessert. Out of all the treats, this one tasted the most like a churro to us.

Mickey Churro Marshmallow

The marshmallow was super sweet, and it was dipped in cinnamon and sugar, then drizzled with vanilla icing. Someone’s really doing their job right at Zuri’s, because the spices and flavors made this taste just like a real churro!

Would You Grab This Treat?

If you don’t like super sweet treats, this one is not for you! The marshmallow plus the icing made it very sweet. But, if you love all things sugary, we have a feeling you’ll enjoy it. The marshmallow treat was $4.99.

Our last churro dessert was the Churro Cupcake, which was a vanilla and cinnamon–flavored cake with vanilla icing and chocolate Mickey ears on top!

Churro Cupcake

The cinnamon flavor is very prominent in the cake. It gave us cinnamon roll vibes instead of churros! You can get this one for $5.19 at Zuri’s.

Mickey Churro Cupcake

There wasn’t a filling in this cupcake, so we found it to be a little bit dry. We’d have loved something inside the cake! It wasn’t too sweet though, so if you want that cinnamon-churro flavor without the sweetness overload, this could be a good option!

We’re SO excited to see the churro love really embraced in Disney World!! We just have one request — can Churro Toffee please be next?

Churro Toffee in Disneyland

Seriously, all our churro-filled dreams would come true if Churro Toffee appeared in Disney World. Until then, we’ll keep our fingers crossed!

A Pie-Flavored DONUT?! Do Disney World Snacks Get Any Better?

With everything going on with Halloween and the 50th Anniversary, you may have forgotten that we’re smack dab in the middle of the International Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT!

It’s Food and Wine Festival season once again!

The festival started mid-July, and now we’ve had six weeks to enjoy the delicious bites from around the world. And even though we’ve got until the end of November before the festival ends, you likely won’t get tired of the offerings, especially at booths like The Donut Box!

Why won’t you get tired of The Donut Box? Well, because this booth is swapping up the Chef’s Donut of the Day every two weeks! Just look for the placards outside to let you know which limited-time options are available.

Who’s ready for some donuts?

A few weeks ago, one of the Chef’s Donut of the Day selections was this Cookies ‘n’ Cream Donut, and now it’s back for another round. (Click here to check out our review of this treat!)

It’s back!

But what we’re REALLY here for today is the brand new Boston Cream Pie Donut! Doesn’t that sound delicious?!

We can’t wait to try this!

This donut should be around for two weeks, and you can get it for $5. It’s your classic Boston Cream Pie donut, topped with chocolate (and chocolate shavings!) and filled to the brim with custard.

Doesn’t that look GOOD?

We thought that in general, the donut itself was better than the ones we’ve tried at this booth in the past. It was lighter and airier. But the sweet flavors of the toppings and filling were the real stars here — we thought this was pretty phenomenal!

This was a top-notch donut.

Our donut had a LOT of custard in it, which we really loved. However, if you’re not a fan of an overwhelming amount of custard, then you may want to scoop some of the excess out.

LOADS of filling in this one.

If you’re a fan of this traditional donut flavor, then we highly suggest stopping by this festival booth in the next few weeks. If you’re not big on custard, then you may want to skip this one in favor of something else.

Stay tuned to DFB because we’ll be back here in a few weeks to try more donuts! We love sharing all the fun from the Food & Wine Festival, and if you’re visiting soon, make sure to check out our guidebook!
