You Can Get FROG Legs…in Disney World! 🐸

Morimoto Asia is an upscale Asian eatery in Disney Springs helmed by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. This spot serves up some seriously delicious Pan-Asian eats year-round, but it also offers some specialty items or events from time to time.

Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs

From July 6th to August 12th, Disney Springs will be home to Flavors of Florida, an event where all sorts of Disney Springs restaurants and kiosks will be serving dishes with ingredients inspired by the Sunshine State! In 2019, Morimoto Asia served up an Alligator Tail Waffle Cone(!!) during the Flavors of Florida event. But this year, it’s serving up something different…frog legs!

Before we get to the frog legs, let’s talk about the drink being offered at Morimoto for Flavors of Florida — the Crooked Can Florida Sunshine Lager!

That’s a Tall Drink!

This light lager is an American-style beer, brewed locally in Winter Garden, Florida by Crooked Can Brewing Company.

Our Drink (And the Frog Legs, More on That in a Second)

This beer was crisp and refreshing with the slightest hint of hops — perfect for the Florida heat!

Nice Drink with a Nice View

If you’re a fan of darker stouts or are looking for a richer beer, then you may want to pass on this. But, if you like beer and you’re looking for something light, you might want to give this one a try!

We Even Grabbed a To-Go Cup for the Rest!

You can grab it right now for $10.

Now, it’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…Frog Legs!

Frog Legs!

During the Flavors of Florida event, Morimoto Asia is serving up Florida Frog Leg “Lollipop” Tempura for $17. These are fried frog leg nuggets sweetened with an Orange Blossom Honey Glaze, rolled in Toasted Sesame Seeds.

Frog Leg Nugget

The presentation for this dish was pretty fun! Note that some of them are still on the bone though, while others are skewered. You will want to be careful when you’re eating the ones that are on the bone.

Frog Legs

So, how do they actually taste? Well, the frog legs themselves are lightly battered. The batter itself was nice and crisp. And they’re rolled in that yummy sweet orange blossom glaze, which is similar to Morimoto’s honey chicken.

Truthfully, these pretty much tasted like chicken to us! They were a bit more chewy than chicken, but not rubbery.

Frog Legs

One thing we do want to mention is what you’ll see when you cut into these frog legs. If you’ve eaten frog legs before, then you might be familiar with this. But, we do want to warn you that you’ll generally see some very thin black veins in the frog legs if you cut into them. For some, this might not be a big deal at all, but we did want to mention it for those who might find it a little bit unappealing.

Ready to Eat?

The frog leg nuggets are covered in toasted sesame seeds. And when we say covered, we mean it! Although the sesame seeds brought a great crunch to the dish, there were just a few too many for our liking. That’s something to be aware of if you’re planning to order this dish.

That’s a Lot of Sesame Seeds

However, we do think this could be a great appetizer to share, as long as you can get over the fact you’re eating frogs (sorry Kermit!). If you love frog legs already, are a fan of gator tail, or even just really like chicken, we think you might enjoy this dish! It’s very fun and had some nice flavors.

Would You Eat These?

But, if you just can’t get over the fact that they are frog legs, then you might just want to check out some of the other options on the Morimoto Asia menu or other dishes being offered at the spots participating in the Flavors of Florida event.
