The Average Costs to Fly to Disney Word This August

Summer is a BIG time to go to Disney World! If you’re trying to pack one more Disney trip into this summer, we’ve got you covered with all the info for flying to Orlando this August!

On our way!

Check out what it could cost you to fly to Orlando this August, with price comparisons of five different airlines!

We clearly couldn’t look at every single airport in the country, but we did our best to find some of the biggest airports and compare the cost of flying from there to Orlando with several different airlines! We mainly checked the prices for the week of August 16th through the 20th, which was fairly representative of most of the month of August. But if you’re looking for a cheaper flight, the last week in August almost always had cheaper flights (probably because a lot of schools start around then, so not as many people are traveling).

What will it cost you in August to fly to this entrance gate?

In general, the other airlines seem a bit cheaper than Southwest in most of these lists, but remember that the Southwest prices include two 50lb. checked bags for free, whereas you’ll usually need to pay to check bags on other airlines!

New York (JFK or LaGuardia)

Some airlines we checked only flew out of JFK, and others would only go to LaGuardia, so we’ve got the prices from both! If you’re flying Southwest, you’ll likely be leaving from LaGuardia.

Southwest: The average flight to Orlando was about $300, with returns at about $250, bringing the whole trip to $550. The lowest prices we found for this trip were $234 out and $157 return, but there weren’t many flights available for those prices! If you’re leaving from LaGuardia on Southwest, the cheapest dates to fly were the 26th to the 30th of August, at $78 departing and $133 returning!

Flight from Orlando

Delta: If you’re heading out on Delta, you’ll probably be going out of JFK. The lowest roundtrip we found out of JFK was $467, with several tickets going up into the $1,000s! If you want a lower roundtrip, August 25th–30th was just $285.

United: We’re heading back to LaGuardia for United, where we found the lowest round-trip at $202 with more options around $260 and most flights being about $350. In the last week of August, though, it gets down to about $147!

Orlando International Airport

American Airlines: American Airlines fly out of LaGuardia as well, and the lowest round-trip we found was $368. In the last week of August, though, there were several options for under $250!

Spirit: Spirit (also flying out of LaGuardia) was the cheapest in general, with one-way tickets at $60–$80 both ways. That’s about a $120–$160 round-trip. Remember, you will have to pay for a carry-on, to pick your seat, etc.

Los Angeles (LAX)

Southwest: The average Southwest flight to Orlando was $250 out and $220 return, for a total of $470 round-trip. The lowest round-trip you could get right now is $280, with a $143 out and $137 return. The cheapest days to fly from here are August 25th to the 31st, with $68 flights both ways.

Delta: If you’re flying Delta, there are a few trips for less than $300 round-trip (with the lowest being $180!), but most of the flights for August get up to $430.

United: For United, the lowest round-trip we found was $237, with most flights at around $350. You can probably get flights for less than $250 round-trip in the last week of August.

Who remembers empty airplanes in 2020?

American: The average American Airlines flight out of LAX to Orlando was $250–$270 round-trip. There were slightly cheaper options for the last week in August, around the $240 range.

Spirit: Spirit’s prices were actually similar to the other airlines, with the average at $150 out and $130 return ($280 round-trip). The lowest we found were $103 out and $83 return.

Chicago O’Hare

Southwest: Southwest in Chicago was cheaper than LA and NY, with several options to fly into Orlando at $101 and return flights at about a $200 average. That’s a $301 round-trip. The lowest round-trip we could find was $211, and the cheapest days to fly Southwest were Saturdays and Sundays or the last week in August.

Orlando International Airport

Delta: The lowest round-trip we found for Delta was $333, but most flights were closer to $360. Prices were about the same for the last week of August, and it was actually more expensive to fly on Saturdays and Sundays — the opposite of Southwest.

United: Round-trips with United are going for under $200 if you go in the mornings (early flights are usually cheaper than afternoon flights, as a general rule). If you’re going in the last week, though, you can get a $157 round-trip at almost any time of day available.

Flying to Orlando

American: American had a lot of flights available for less than $250, with the lowest round-trip at $205. The last week wasn’t significantly cheaper than the rest of August.

Spirit: For Spirit airlines, the flights were between $60 and $80 each way, for a round-trip of $120 to $160!

Dallas

We have the same situation here as we did in New York, with some airlines preferring DFW and others flying out of Love Field!

Southwest (Love Field): We found some really cheap flights for Southwest at $82 each way, but most were closer to $150 each way, which makes a $164 and $300 round-trip, respectively. In the last week of August, though, there were more of the $82 options!

Orlando International Airport

Delta: The cheapest round-trip on Delta to Orlando was $215, with most flights being closer to $250 or $300. And weirdly enough, the last week in August was actually more expensive than the 16th through 20th!

United: United had flights to Orlando for about $300 at most times of the day, and the last week in August was about the same!

American: Most flights to Orlando on American were about $225, with the cheapest at $163. If you’re going the last week in August, there were a few fights for under $200!

Spirit: Oh, our wonderful cheap friend — Spirit had flights out of Dallas for $60 both ways ($120 round-trip), with more options for $100 both ways ($200 round-trip).

Atlanta

Just to clarify, we looked at flights out of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Southwest: If you’re in Atlanta, you can get pretty cheap Southwest tickets to Orlando! The lowest we found was $69 each way, which is a $138 round trip! You could probably get a departing flight for under $100 the week of Aug 16th to the 20th, and most return flights were closer to $150. The cheapest was the last week in August, which had flights for $59 each way!

Delta: The lowest we found from Delta was $145 round-trip, but you could get almost any time of day for less than $200. The last week of August was even cheaper, with several options for flights at $117 round-trip!

Orlando International Airport

United: United had really expensive flights when we checked, with roundtrips to Orlando at $590 or more. Maybe United doesn’t fly out of Atlanta very often?

American: There were a lot of options for round-trip flights out of Atlanta on American at $192, and even more for $215. If you’re willing to wait until the last week in August, there were even more $192 options!

Orlando International Airport

Spirit: We found low prices on Spirit at $50 each way ($100 round-trip), with more options for $80 each way ($160 round-trip).

Denver

Southwest: If you’re willing to fly early in the morning or later in the evening, we found tickets for $99 to Orlando (one-way), with other times closer to $175. The return tickets varied widely, but you could get one at most available times for $150 to $200, which is a round-trip of about $249 to $375. The cheapest options were after August 16th, with $99 flights available both ways — a round-trip of $198.

The average price for getting to Orlando this August obviously depends on where you’re flying from, but we think you can find tickets for most of the month for between $150 and $300 round-trip! If you can swing it, the last week of August was cheaper almost every time we checked, so that would be one way to save some cash! Just keep in mind that these prices can and will fluctuate daily!
