REVIEW: Is Disney World’s NEW $90 Family Takeout Dinner ACTUALLY Worth It?

There’s a NEW way to eat take-out in Disney World now and it could change the game for families who are looking for another dining option!

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

It’s no secret that the parks and resorts are filled to the brim with restaurants, but it can be a battle to face the crowds at popular Quick Service restaurants or try to secure a reservation for a Table Service location. And, if you’re hoping to skip the hassle of finding a sit-down meal but still want an appetizer, entree, and dessert, Disney has introduced a NEW option for families.

Starting today, June 30th, TWO Disney World resorts are offering a new Disney Family Night Dinner, which includes a FULL 3-course meal for a family of 3-4 and comes with an original card game. So, yes, you’ll be getting a souvenir WITH your dinner.

You’ll find the new option at both Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and it’ll cost you a whopping $79 or $89. Now, before you get shocked by that price tag, that ends up breaking down to about $19.75 or $22.25 per person, which is pretty on par with the cost of dinner at Table Service restaurants around Disney World.

You know if there’s a new dining option we’re going to be there, so we headed over to Gasparilla Island Grill to give it a try!

The restaurant is currently still operating with Mobile Ordering, so we opened up the My Disney Experience app and placed our order.

The meal comes out in a large to-go bag and two small pizza boxes, so you can take it wherever you’d like to enjoy your giant dinner with your family.

Neat packaging

Each individual dish is neatly packaged in the paper bag. The way this is packaged makes it super easy for one person to carry back from the restaurant!

Packaging

So, what’s included in this giant 3-course meal? Well, quite a bit actually! It’s got a shareable garden salad, lasagna, Mickey-shaped cheese and pepperoni pizzas, and Minnie cheesecake with fresh berries, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. Plus, you’ll also get original games and collectibles all for $89.

We can’t wait!

You don’t have to worry about grabbing your own utensils or condiments, because they are included in the package for you! We received 4 sets of utensils, crushed red pepper, parmesan, salt, butter, and salad dressing. There are also four plates included in the package!

Utensils and Condiments

We headed over to an empty table and opened it all up to dig in!

Full Spread!

Do you think it’s worth it? Let’s find out!

What Disney World meal is complete without some bread to start? Although the bread was not warm (we wish it was), these rolls were very good! The outside is hard with a super soft inside, and they give you butter in the big bag.

Bread

This meal is FULL of Mickey-shaped food, and it even starts in the salad! The Garden Salad is a pretty typical Disney salad, and there’s plenty to be shared between 3-4 people. It comes with Ranch and Italian Dressing, and they gave us so much that we could’ve drowned the salad in it! We loved the salad overall — it was an awesome mix of fresh greens and tons of tomatoes, carrots, and cucumber cut into small Mickey-shapes.

Salad

Next up, we tried the Lasagna! Like we said, this meal has lots and lots of hidden Mickeys, so there is a parmesan Mickey on top! The lasagna is pretty delicious, but we did sense a bit of that reheated taste like when you make a lasagna in the oven at home. There is tons of gooey cheese and plenty of meat between the layers. If you’re a sauce person, you’ll probably want to ask fro a side of marinara to make it saucier, but that’s up to you! Our biggest complaint was that the crunchy layer did not go across the whole top. The Mickey is cute and added some nice texture, but we wish it covered the entire lasagna!

Lasagna

When it comes to pizzas, you have some options — two cheese, two pepperoni, or one of each. We opted for the one of each option so we could try them both! The Cheese Pizza was probably the most “meh” of everything we ate.

Cheese Pizza

The Pepperoni Pizza was also not our favorite. The pepperoni is supposed to represent Minnie with a pepperoni bow on top! In both pizzas, the ears were SUPER doughy and the bottom pieces were a little tough to bite through. We think kids would not have any complaints about this, though, because it’s super cute and simple for the picky eaters in the family!

Pepperoni Pizza

And last but not least, we had dessert! The dessert included in this meal is the Minnie Cheesecake which is topped with fresh berries, strawberry sauce (which is served on the side), and whipped cream. Okay…this was the BEST part of the meal. First of all, this thing is HUGE. The cheesecake has that classic, creamy cheesecake flavor, and the berries make it a super fresh-tasting dessert. The texture is spot on, and we think anyone who even remotely likes cheesecake would love this!

And, what about those games and collectibles? Ours came with a set of card games!

Game Night!

There is a different activity based on each character from the Sensational Six. For example, if you choose Daisy’s game, everyone uses everyday items to put together the best “resort wear” look in 30 seconds! This is a super fun bonus to a great family meal.

Which one would you play?

Now, keep in mind that the meal over at Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort will be a bit different and include roasted Jamaican-style chicken, fried yucca, cilantro rice, vegetables, Caribbean pull-apart rolls, and decorate your own Mickey and Minnie Cookies for $79.

Overall, this huge and pricey meal is truly a bargain. You get a LOT of food for what you pay, and honestly it could feed more than 3-4 people. You could probably feed several family members with the lasagna alone, let alone the rest of the meal! This dinner was not low quality either — it tastes like something you would expect from the Grand Floridian.

It is also a super convenient option because you can take this meal anywhere you want! A con for some is that drinks are NOT included in this price, so you would need to buy those separately. If this looks like something you and your family would enjoy, we’d recommend it. And, remember to stay tuned to DFB for more Disney food news and updates!
