NEW Food, Character Appearances, and MORE Coming to Disney World This Month!

If you’re visiting Disney World in May, there are some new additions you’ll want to know about!

Welcome to Disney Springs!

In the past few months, we’ve celebrated Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Earth Month. May is Asian Pacific American Heritage month and Disney World has some celebrations in store!

Disney World is honoring the talents, cultures, and contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community with unique and special offerings. Disney mentioned that several of these additions will last beyond May, so don’t worry about missing out if you aren’t visiting this month!

Magic Kingdom

In the Magic Kingdom, Mulan and Moana are joining the line-up of characters featured in the character cavalcades. They will also wave to guests from above at the Main Street Railroad Station.

We’ve already seen these two characters out in the parks, but it looks like they will be sticking around for a while after celebrating the month!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is offering two experiences to celebrate this month! In mid-May, you’ll be able to check out the Moana sand sculpture on Discovery Island. If it’s as incredible as the Raya and the Last Dragon sand sculpture, we’re in for a treat!

The Animation Experience at Conservation Station

The Animation Experience at Conservation Station will feature sketches of Pua from Moana and Tuk Tuk from Raya and the Last Dragon!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Mira from Mira, Royal Detective is back in the Disney Junior Motorcade, and she will be available for special appearances until the end of June!

Hi, Mira!

This past weekend, Mira was already out greeting guests from a distance near Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. She was in the Disney Junior Motorcade for a weekend back in October, but it looks like she’ll be back for a little while!

Check out Mira in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

To start the celebrations in EPCOT, Mulan will join the Princess Processional around World Showcase!

In the China pavilion, you can grab a Chinese comfort food called Char Siu with Rice at Lotus Blossom Cafe. The dish is made with Cantonese-style barbecue pork and is one of the most iconic items in Chinatown restaurants across the country!

At this location, you can also find the Red Bean Ice Float, which is a dessert drink made of sweetened Chinese red beans, milk, crushed ice, and vanilla ice cream.

At the House of Good Fortune, the spotlight will be on Chinese Calligraphy! There you can learn about the “Four Treasures of the Study” with calligraphy demonstrations every Wednesday in May from 2PM-3PM and 6PM-7PM.

Over in the Japan pavilion, you can check out Japanese culture all year long at the Mitsukoshi Department Store and at the pavilion’s restaurants: Teppan Edo and Katsura Grill!

Disney Springs

Disney Springs is getting tons of new treats for the month! We visited Disney Springs on the first day of the month, so luckily we were able to try some of these limited-time treats already! Over at Amorette’s Patisserie, you can grab the Mulan Petit Cake!

A Dessert Fit for a Warrior

The Jasmine Tea Cream Tart by Chef Jessi is made with Jasmine Tea Cream, Lychee, Raspberry, & Passion Fruit Gelée, and a Butter Nut Cookie Crust. It’s topped with chocolate swirl, fondant flower, and edible glitter.

Both treats had some unique flavors that we don’t see too often, so be sure to check these out if you want a break from classic dessert flavors!

We also stopped by The Daily Poutine and tried the Korean BBQ Fries!

We loved this snack, and it’s something you don’t see every day in Disney World!

Check out The Ganachery for the Matcha Yuzu Ganache Square! This treat is made with green tea and yuzu dark chocolate ganache.

At Morimoto Asia, there is a special dining menu to celebrate this month! This includes the Lomilomi which is salmon tartare with tomatoes, onions, and scallions, and the Loco Moco which is a traditional Hawaiian burger rice bowl made with a blend of filet and A5 wagyu topped with a sunny-side-up egg and teriyaki mushroom gravy.

They will also offer the Saimin (a Hawaiian-style ramen with dash shrimp broth, thin noodles, and roasted pork), and Halo Halo (a Filipino shaved ice dessert with flavored jellies and fresh fruit). On top of that there will be a cocktails and mocktails like the Morimoto Mai Tai, Japanese Old Fashioned, and Took Highball.

The Art of Disney shop will focus on Asian Pacific American filmmakers, artists, authors, and screenwriters who work for Walt Disney Animation Studios!

At Basin, you can check out the Eucalyptus Mint Soap. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the AAPI Community Fund. And on Disney Springs West Side outside of AMC Theaters, there will be a big art installation piece inspired by Raya and the Last Dragon.

Even the Disney World resorts are getting in on the celebrations! Movies that highlight AAPI communities like Lilo and Stitch and Mulan will be added into Movie Under the Stars at the resorts. We’ll be sure to show you all of the celebrations happening in Disney World throughout the month, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates from Disney World!
