Disney EXTENDS Legacy Passholder Discounts Again

Disneyland Legacy Passholders: it’s a BIG day!

Sleeping Beauty Castle

Disneyland is officially reopening today, and we’re sure all you Legacy Passholders are pumped to be back in the gates. While in the parks, you’ll get to take advantage of some perks, like discounts on food and merchandise. Those discounts continued to apply since the Annual Passholder program was discontinued — and now, they’ve been extended again.

Last we heard, the discount had been extended until April 30th. Now, that date has been pushed back to May 31st, 2021. Keep in mind that May 31st is not when your discount will expire — Disney has stated that “this date will be automatically extended until new membership offerings are announced.” But for now, that is the expiration date your Disneyland app will state!

Last month, Disney rolled out digital discount tickets on the Disneyland app. As before, you’ll be able to use this ticket, along with your  Annual Passport and a valid photo ID, to save. Your discount will vary based on whether you fall into Legacy Passholder Discount A or Legacy Passholder Discount B.

Again — your discount will not expire on May 31st. This is a temporary expiration date, which will continue to extend until a new Passholder program is announced. If your digital discount is already linked to your account, you don’t need to take any action.

Yesterday, Disneyland Resort president Ken Potrock hinted that this new Annual Passholder program would roll out by the end of the year. We’ll keep a close eye on the situation, so stay tuned to DFB!

What to Wear On Your Walt Disney World Summer Vacation

This past Spring Break gave us a preview of what to expect this summer. Many people are ready to break out of the house and get back to travel. Some people are ready to trade in their comfy clothes for something fun and fashionable. Others have discovered the joy of leggings with pockets and are never going back. Whether your preference is style or comfort, here’s what to wear on your Walt Disney World summer vacation.

Comfortable Clothing to Wear to Walt Disney World

First, let’s start with some comfortable clothing options. Now that I have a preschooler to worry about in the parks, I look to dress comfortably and functionally. If I am uncomfortable while in the parks for hours, with the summer heat and humidity bearing down on me, my preschooler and I will both end up throwing tantrums.

I visit Walt Disney World multiple times each month, and although I tend to avoid going in the summer, I have found that breathable fabric is the way to go. My current go to combination is cropped leggings with pockets so I can get to my phone, ID, and form of payment quickly. On top I usually wear a shirt made of moisture wicking material. Many runners wear this type of material, but also here in Florida lots of boaters and fishers wear this material when out of the water.

What I love about such material is that it is lightweight, breathes much more than cotton, and it doesn’t stay wet if I sweat or get wet. As an added bonus, lots of brands that use moisture wicking material have UV protection in the fabric. As a Florida native one of my go-to stores is Bealls. They have their own line of moisture wicking clothing made for being out in the sun and on the water. It’s called Reel Legends, and so far it is my favorite clothing to wear to the parks on a sweltering day. You can order online and ship to home; you don’t have to be a Florida resident.

For a nice meal or evening out while on vacation I do like to get at least a little dressed up. After a refreshing afternoon break at the hotel, I like to change into something with a little style to it. Rompers have made a big climb in recent years, and normally I am not a big fan, but for a casual evening out, they make for an easy-to-pack, easy-to-wear choice. Of course, I love sundresses too. Anything that is easy, breezy.

Stylish Clothing to Wear to Walt Disney World

I am no expert on fashion. And there’s so many talent content creators out there who have a keen eye for fashion. So I reached out Twitter and Instagram to get some help to find folks who have great ideas for fashionable, stylish clothing that will look great in the parks this summer.

First up is Victoria, aka @hecallsmepineappleprincess on Instagram. Victoria is so passionate about Orlando’s theme parks and the theme park loving community. I am so grateful for her presence and perspective.

Here’s a look she offers for visiting EPCOT during the Flower and Garden Festival. This four month long festival runs until July 5, 2021, so you’ve still got plenty of time to get a look together that shows off the flowery vibes of the festival. Think flowing dresses and flower mouse ear headbands.

Another simple idea is to select a comfortable, but stylish outfit and plus it with a Disney themed face covering / mask. Finally from Victoria, I am not able to include the Reel here, but follow this link and you’ll see some great outfit choices that are sure to inspire you.

After this past year of being at home, many people are ready to break out and be bold. If that sounds like you, then check out the ideas from Liz Everett and her Style Bestie Stephani, on Instagram @styleitfactor. These two beauties produce fashion and style advice, hailing from New York City and Orlando. Liz shares five trends that are worth embracing this summer:

  1. Denim Jackets With Fun Brooches
  2. Tie Dye
  3. Animal Print
  4. Stripes
  5. Statement Earrings

Tie Dye is featured a lot in Disney merchandise right now and it is a fun look to bring to the parks. Animal Prints are perfect too with Animal Kingdom and Adventureland in the mix.

Back when it was trendy to do so, I loved adding a denim jacket on top of wearing a summery dress. So it is great to see denim jackets coming back, and being dressed up with brooches and accessories. It is easy to add this on when you’re in the parks, Disney Springs, or back at the resort for the evening. Style It Factor shares more on their blog.

Finally, if you’re looking to possibly Disneybound (wear regular clothing that resembles a Disney character’s style and look), then I highly recommend following @ColorMeMagic on Instagram. Besides putting together amazing looks based on Disney characters, she also shares adorable outfits that would look fabulous at the parks.

Must Haves No Matter Your Style

The one accessory everyone must have is a face covering. Walt Disney World has guidelines regarding face coverings that are approved, and those that are not. So be sure to familiarize yourself before you go.

You absolutely must protect yourself from the sun. Wear sunscreen. Reapply the sunscreen every few hours; while waiting in line for an attraction is a great time to do so. Consider wearing a hat too, especially for the kids in your group as well. Sunglasses with UV protection is a smart move. Whether you prefer to be stylish or comfy, take care of yourself so you can have a fun, but safe vacation this summer at Walt Disney World.

“Mickey and Friends World Tour” Character Cavalcade Ending May 4 at EPCOT

mickey and minnie in character cavalcade

The Mickey and Friends World Tour character cavalcade at EPCOT will be coming to an end on May 4, 2021. Mickey and friends will instead make appearances at the park’s entrance, as we’ve seen recently. The character cavalcade circled World Showcase as a way for guests to safely see characters in a time of physical distancing. It seems Disney has decided that characters making static appearances is more efficient. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto have been appearing sporadically at the […]

Review: Everyone Who Eats Disney World’s New Cupcake Will Have 1 Thing in Common

We’ve been trying all the springtime treats around Disney World!

Now That’s One Pretty Cake!

Mother’s Day is coming up, which means the parks and resorts have rolled out a WHOLE bunch of eats for us to enjoy. We’ve already sampled a mini cake (WITH mimosa), and now we’re at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to taste some more!

We stopped by Creature Comforts to try the brand-new Mother’s Day Cupcake. That’s a chocolate cupcake with strawberry ganache filling and white chocolate frosting. Chocolate and strawberry is a classic combo, so we’re excited to see how this tastes.

Mother’s Day Cupcake

Not mention, there’s a white chocolate decal of a mom and baby rhino that ties in the Animal Kingdom and Mother’s Day themes just right.

Look how cute!

So let’s get munchin’! The cake itself was super moist and tasty. Our favorite part was the strawberry filling — but unfortunately, there wasn’t too much of it. We would’ve liked to see a little more!

So many flowers!

But what we’ve really gotta talk about is that white chocolate buttercream frosting, which had a couple of pros and cons. First, that white chocolate flavor wasn’t prominent at all. It just tasted like any ol’ buttercream!

And as you can see, this thing’s not the prettiest when it’s cut open. That’s because the cupcake came straight out of the cooler, so the frosting is like a frozen chunk. Now, we thought the cold icing actually tasted pretty good! But you’ll want to be prepared for that. And if you’re not a frosting fan, you’ll probably think there was way too much of it, period.

So much frosting!

If you’re looking for a quick ‘n’ easy cupcake, this one was tasty! But we do have to warn those who aren’t into frosting: you may wanna stay away from this one! Not to mention, the green food coloring will dye your hands. It’s just a fact, friends! Make sure you bring some wipes…because everyone who eats this thing is gonna have hands and teeth stained green.

Be prepared for dyed hands!

You can give this treat a try at Creature Comforts, Flame Tree Barbecue, OR Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom! It’ll be available for $5.99 until June 1st, so you’ve got a whole month to get your snack game on. We’ll keep trying all the Mother’s Day treats around Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more reviews!

How Disneyland Broke Its Own Rules in 2021

One of Disney’s cardinal rules that it has more or less lived by across their theme parks has to do with sticking to the story of a particular land. For example, you’ll never find a Ronto Wrap for sale in Toy Story Land, and you wouldn’t see a Tomorrowland Cast Member walking around in their costume in Adventureland.

Disneyland

However, those principles were put to the test in 2021, when Disneyland welcomed guests back to Disney California Adventure with A Touch of Disney.

What did Disneyland do that broke its own mold?

When Disneyland announced that A Touch of Disney would serve classic Disneyland dishes over at California Adventure, we were all a little more than shocked! While we were thrilled to eat some of our favorite Disneyland food items for the first time in over a year, it felt a little like we were breaking some sort of rule!

Pixar Pier

By offering location-specific food outside of their home location (or home park for that matter), Disneyland wound up bending their own rules when it comes to “exclusivity.” Just a few examples include the classic Pineapple Dole Whip (California Adventure has famously served what is essentially a Lemon Dole Whip at Adorable Snowman Frosted Treats at Pixar Pier, but not their classic pineapple flavor!), the Monte Cristo Sandwich from Blue Bayou, Walt’s Chili from Carnation Cafe, the Toasted Cheese Sandwich from Jolly Holiday Bakery, and even the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings from Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar!

It’s WALT’S Chili!

Once Disneyland reopens, it’s likely those dishes will go back to the places from whence they came and become more location-specific again, but A Touch of Disney could be setting a precedent for “bending” the rules that Disneyland has stuck to for so many years.

Click here to read about all of the food and drink items available at A Touch of Disney!

Where else are we seeing Disney re-write their own rule book?

Much of these changes have come out of necessity due to the unprecedented nature of the park closures, but we’ve seen Disney make these sweeping changes in other areas around Disneyland!

Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland

Perhaps the biggest and most shocking change came when Disneyland wiped the slate clean with their Annual Passholder Program. Disney CEO Bob Chapek later said in a question and answer interview that eliminating the Passholder program at Disneyland would have been considered “heresy” prior to the pandemic.

Legacy Passholder Magnet and Button from A Touch of Disney event

While all of Disney California Adventure is closed off to only ticketed guests now, there was a period of nearly four months where Buena Vista Street was wide open for the general public to visit for FREE. Imagine if Disney World opened a portion of one of their theme parks at no cost whatsoever — bonkers, right?!

Storytellers Statue in Disney California Adventure

And while there was an extremely select amount of merchandise from Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge available for purchase in and around Tomorrowland prior to the closures, Disney made another big move by offering essentially all of their Galaxy’s Edge merchandise — items that, when the land opened, were meant to be exclusively available “on-world” in that location — at the new Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney.

Star Wars Trading Post

The Trading Post, found in the former location of Rainforest Cafe, is a more permanent version of what Disneyland offered at WonderGround Gallery. Now, you don’t have to wait to visit Galaxy’s Edge to purchase lightsabers from Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities — you can pick one up on your way out from Downtown Disney!

Click here to check out some photos from the new Star Wars Trading Post in Downtown Disney!

If there’s anything we have learned from the past year, it’s that Disney as a company has been forced to pivot in its operations, and at times make some unprecedented decisions in how to shape the guest experience. We can surely expect more of these changes to come as 2021 continues, so be prepared for the unexpected! Also, be sure to follow along — we’ll make sure you have the most up-to-date information when it comes to Disneyland’s reopening (THIS FRIDAY!!), as well as Disney World’s continued phased reopening!
