PHOTOS: Part of EPCOT’s Upcoming Fireworks Show Looks Like…a Terrifying Upside-Down Spider?

It’s another day in Disney World and you know what that means…we’ve got MORE updates from EPCOT about its upcoming nighttime spectacular — Harmonious!

Harmonious Centerpiece

We have been keeping an eye on all of the work being done in EPCOT on its new, upcoming fireworks show. So far, we’ve seen some seriously LARGE barges be placed in World Showcase Lagoon and we’ve even seen them lit up. But today we spotted something new!

We’ve seen Disney testing some of the arms on the Harmonious barges in the past.

But, today we got to see some testing in action for the arms attached to the large, circular Harmonious barge.

Harmonious Center Barge Testing

WOW. Pretty epic. Is it just us though, or is this giving you scary upside-down spider vibes — like it could just flip over and walk away? Or maybe you’re getting some evil alien spaceship vibes? Slightly terrifying, but cool is the overall feeling we’re getting here.

Harmonious Barges

Now, we know that a LOT of you don’t really appreciate how these barges obstruct your view across the lagoon. How do we know that? Well, quite a few of you told us so when we reached out to you via social media.

But, we are certainly interested to see these barges when they’re fully operational during the Harmonious show. The show itself is set to include choreographed moving fountains, lights and lasers, and pyrotechnics. Harmonious will feature beloved Disney characters and incorporate Disney music with classic songs reinterpreted and presented by diverse cultural musicians from around the world.

And while it seems these barges will really shine at night, they’re also going to be used to provide a new fountain look to the lagoon during the day.

Harmonious was set to debut in 2020, but with the theme park closures and fireworks being suspended, it has been delayed. A new opening date has not yet been announced, but we’re on the lookout for more updates. We have seen Disney doing quite a bit of testing on these barges lately, so it seems they are hard at work getting them ready for an eventual opening date. We’ll be sure to share upcoming news about this show with you!
