NEWS: Characters Will Be BACK in New Ways When Disneyland Reopens

Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park are set to reopen very soon!

Mickey Mouse in Disney World

Disney has already shared that characters will be making an appearance at the upcoming “A Touch of Disney” event in Disney California Adventure Park. But, will Mickey and friends be available for guests to see when Disney’s California theme parks officially reopen to the public? Here’s what Disney has just announced!

Earlier today, Disney shared that Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will be reopening on April 30th, 2021. Disney also provided some information about when one of its resort hotels will reopen, and more details about the procedures the parks will use when they reopen.

But one question that might be on a LOT of fans’ minds is “will I be able to see Mickey Mouse in Disneyland when it reopens?” And now Disney has given us an answer. According to Disney, when its California theme parks reopen, “characters from dozens of favorite Disney and Pixar stories will entertain and delight guests across both parks.”

Disney shares that the characters could make surprise appearances along Main Street, U.S.A. and Pixar Pier, and there will also be other playful character interactions. The characters are set to “pop up in new ways and sometimes in unexpected places as they remain mindful of physical distancing.”

Characters on the Train Station in Disney World

Wondering what characters you might see in Disneyland? Disney has shared that you may be able to see Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waving from the train station. More of a Disney Princess fan? Disney has also said that Disney Princesses such as Mulan may appear at the Royal Theatre to wave and pose for some socially distanced selfies.

Over at Disney California Adventure, you might just find some of your favorite Pixar pals waving at you from the bandshell at Pixar Pier, or you can take photos with Mater and Lightning McQueen along Route 66 in Cars Land.

Keep in mind, however, that certain experiences like parades and nighttime spectaculars, which tend to draw large audiences, will be suspended for the time being.

But, guests will be able to see some of their favorite characters from a distance! Disneyland’s policies sound a lot like what we’ve seen in Disney World where there are distanced character pop-up experiences and distanced character meet-and-greets. We’ll definitely be interested to see how these character experiences are handled in Disneyland and will keep you updated as we learn more!
