5 Things That Will Be Different in Disney World in April

Planning to visit Disney World in April? Well, then there are quite a few things you should know about!

What a view!

From brand NEW experiences coming to the parks to BIG savings that will be expiring soon, we’ve got it all here for you. Today, we’re breaking down the 5 things that will be different in Disney World in April!

1. Easter

This year, Easter takes place on April 4th. We’ve already seen a whole bunch of Easter and spring-themed snacks and decorations (hello chocolate egg displays) popping up all around Disney World.

Such Cute Easter treats available at Beach Club Marketplace!

More decorations and snacks are set to be released as Easter gets closer, so you’ll want to be on the lookout for that.

What an AWESOME Easter Egg Display

There will also be a number of Easter brunches available in Disney World, so you might want to take advantage of some of those! Once Easter passes, those Easter treats and special displays will start to go away. So, be sure to check them out while they’re still available!

2. Re-openings

April is also set to bring with it a few re-openings. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Kali River Rapids is set to reopen.

Ready to Ride the Rapids?

And *CROSS YOUR FINGERS AND YOUR TOES* the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover is currently set to reopen on April 4th. Oh jeez — yes, we’re here once again — just days away from the potential reopening of the PeopleMover. We’ve basically gotten this close before only to have the PeopleMover’s closure extended (over and over again), so that’s certainly a possibility.

But, call us crazy, we’re kind-of hopeful (maybe?) because we heard the beautiful, screeching sound of the PeopleMover’s loading platform being tested recently. Who knows?! Maybe this time our PeopleMover dreams will come true!

3. Last Chance to Get Some BIG Savings or You Could Score Some New Ones!

In April, a number of special deals and discounts for your next Disney World trip will also be ending. First Annual Passholders can save up to 40% on select rooms in Disney World for most nights through April 17th. You have until April 17th to book your room and take advantage of this offer.

Have you ever stayed at the Yacht and Beach Club?

Florida Residents can save up to 35% on select Disney World hotels as well for most nights through April 17th. Again, they have until April 17th to book the room and take advatange of the offer.

Seriously, this is one of the prettiest spots!

But, when one door closes, another one opens! Two NEW deals will also become available for stays beginning in April. First, Annual Passholders will have the chance to save up to 35% on select hotel stays most nights from April 18th through July 10th. Rooms need to be booked by July 10th to use this offer.

4. NEW Food, Characters, and More Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Earth Day is April 22nd, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going ALL OUT to celebrate! From April 18th through the 24th, limited-time eats, experiences, and MORE will all be available in Animal Kingdom.

Nothing like Animal Kingdom on Earth Day!

You might catch some new characters on the flotillas, get the chance to draw some great Disney animal characters at The Animation Experience, or chow down on a few limited-time treats like the returning Honey Bee Cupcake.

There will also be pins, plushes, and more. So, if you’re heading to Animal Kingdom in April, be sure to look for all of these limited-time items!

5. Park Hours and Park Passes

While this isn’t necessarily “different” than March, if you’re visiting Disney World in April, you’ll want to pay close attention to those Park Hours and Park Passes.

In terms of Park Passes, similar to March, we’ve already seen quite a few days in April filling up. We’ve also seen select Park Passes become available again for some of those days, so that’s something you’ll just want to keep an eye out for.

Our advice? Be sure to get those Park Passes as soon as you can so that at least you can be sure you’ll get into one park. Then, if more Park Passes become available, you can try to cancel and make a new reservation. Park Passes filled up a lot at the end of March especially, and they could do so again in April especially since spring breaks will still be happening.

Park hours are also changing in April. We’ve already seen Disney extend hours for early April, and now they’ve extended hours through more of mid-April as well.

Park Pass availability and Park Hours can change quite a bit though, so all of this could change in the future. If you’ve got a trip planned for April, be sure to check the Disney websites often and check back with us for more updates!

And finally, while this doesn’t relate to Disney World, we couldn’t talk about things happening in April without at least mentioning Disneyland! Disneyland is currently set to reopen on April 30th after having been closed for OVER a year.

Guests Will Be Able to Visit Disneyland Soon!!

In April, the “A Touch of Disney” event will also be ending at Disney California Adventure Park as that park prepares to officially reopen. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel will be reopening in April at the Disneyland Resort. And Premier Passholders need to call Disney to get everything arranged to keep their Disney World annual pass in April (they need to call by April 30th).

And those are the biggest things that will be different in Disney World (and a bit of Disneyland) in April. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates in the upcoming weeks and months and let you know about all the latest Disney news. Stay tuned for more!
