Even though Universal’s hotels are open, CityWalk locations are reopening, and the theme parks are resuming operations, it appears the company has taken steps to let go a number of employees even after operations have resumed.

According to Spectrum News 13, Universal Orlando just announced they’re laying off an unknown number of Team Members across their Parks and Resorts divisions.

According to Universal spokesman Tom Schroder, “We have made the difficult decision to reduce our Parks & Resorts workforce across multiple locations and business units…this decision was not made lightly, but was necessary to prepare us for the future.”

Universal announced back in April they would be furloughing most full-time theme park employees and it seems after many had returned to work, the company still was left with laying off employees. Universal will support laid-off employees with severance pay, reemployment assistance, and subsidized health benefits. We’ll keep you posted with any new information or developments as more is revealed.
