Food News: Disney World Will Offer Contactless Menus for Guests When Theme Parks Reopen

Disney World made the historic announcement today that they intend to reopen their theme parks mid-July, after their lengthy closure.

As part of their announcement, they outlined a number of new health and safety guidelines that will be implemented throughout their parks and resorts upon reopening. These guidelines range from an advance reservation system to a new Social Distancing Squad. Guests can also expect their dining experiences to look a little different.

A key component of these reopening guidelines is the increase in contactless experiences for guests. Examples include the increase in Mobile Ordering (meaning you can order food from your phone) and contactless payments such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the use of Magic Bands.

For guests at table service restaurants, Disney World will be offering contactless menus via QR codes that guests can access. Disposable paper menus will also be available if a guest prefers a non-digital menu. We have already seen digital menus appear at Disney Springs, like at Wine Bar George.

Note that in addition to contactless menus, restaurants will operate with limited capacity when the parks reopen. As part of these limited contact experiences, Disney will also be temporarily suspending all character meet and greets, so character dining may look a little different.
