NEWS: Disney World Just Changed Its DAS Pre-Arrival Registration Window

Disney World has made another change to its DAS (Disability Access Service) program.

The DAS program is designed to help those with developmental disabilities who are unable to wait in lines for long periods of time. The service has changed several times over the past year, and some of those changes have been met with backlash. The most recent change impacted the wording about DAS eligibility, but now, a new change could make applying for DAS a little bit easier: the pre-arrival window conversation window has been extended from 30 days to 60 days.

The “pre-arrival conversation” is a program Disney World has in place for its DAS system where you can request a chat with a Cast Member on Disney World’s website to qualify for DAS before your visit, rather than having to wait until your trip to register for DAS. Previously, you could only access the pre-arrival conversation 30 days before your Disney World trip. That window has now been changed to 60 days.

There is no in-person option to request DAS registration, but if you do not register in advance, you can participate in a live video conference on the day of your visit.

Once approved, DAS works like this. Once you scan into a theme park, you can book your first return window for a ride through My Disney Experience. DAS will give you a return time equal to the ride’s current wait time. While you’re waiting, you are free to enjoy other rides, do some shopping, grab some food, or spend time in other ways in the park. When your return time arrives, you can access the ride through its Lightning Lane. You can only hold one DAS return time at any given time, but it’s good for any time after the time specified through the park’s closing time. Then, ten minutes after a return time has been redeemed, you can request another one by using the My Disney Experience app or visiting a Guest Relations or Guest Experience Team location.

Once approved, you can use DAS in Disney World up to the length of your ticket or 240 days.
