Planning guide for the ultimate Disney vacation

If you didn’t know, there are a total of 6 Disney parks around the world! Each of them is different in its own way with unique attractions, dining, and merchandise. We’ll go through them in order of opening date starting with the original Disneyland!

Disneyland Resort

Disneyland Park opened in 1955 in Anaheim, California, and was dreamt up by Walt Disney himself. The original park was inspired by Walt Disney watching his daughters on a carousel and thinking about a place where he and his daughters could have fun together.

Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland

This park’s icon is Sleeping Beauty Castle which is the smallest of the castle collection but Walt intended for it to feel more personal to the guests. This park features Adventureland, New Orleans Square, Bayou Country, Galaxy’s Edge, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Toontown, and Main Street, U.S.A.

Disneyland’s Rivers of America

Next door to Disneyland, you’ll find Disney California Adventure. This park didn’t open until 2001 and it opened with mixed reviews. It’s gone through quite a few changes since then but you’ll find Buena Vista Street, Hollywood Land, Cars Land, San Fransokyo Square, Pixar Pier, Paradise Gardens Park, and Grizzly Peak in this park at the time of writing.

Disney California Adventure

These two parks, 3 hotels, and Downtown Disney make up Disneyland Resort. Compared to some of the other parks, it’s small but mighty. If you’re looking to plan a Disneyland trip, we’ve got you covered right here!

For the next park, we’re staying in America but hopping across the country!

Cinderella Castle

EPCOT came next in 1982 and now is made up of World Celebration, World Nature, World Discovery, and the World Showcase.

In 1989, Hollywood Studios opened to celebrate the making of movies! The park now focuses on being a part of the movies with lands like Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Echo Lake, Commissary Lane, Grand Avenue, Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Storyland, and Animation Courtyard.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Finally, Animal Kingdom opened in 1998 to complete the four-park collection. This park is focused on nature and animals and the human contribution to both of those things! It’s made up of Discovery Island, Pandora – The World of Avatar, Africa, Asia, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and DinoLand, U.S.A. which is in the process of being rethemed to Pueblo Esperanza.

That’s it for the U.S. parks so let’s hop over to Japan!
