Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit to install signage as construction on the new Test Track 3.0 continues at EPCOT.
Imagineering Files Permit to Install Signage at Test Track
The Notice of Commencement, filed yesterday, lists “Install signage” as the “General description of improvement” for 1440 Avenue of the Stars EP, Bay Lake, FL 32830, which is the address for Test Track at EPCOT.
Design Communications Ltd. is listed as the contractor for the project, who has also been assigned the new signage for “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Design Communications Ltd. specializes in custom signage and has been contracted by Imagineering in the past for a number of projects, dating back to at least 2014.
The permit has no expiration date listed, and construction is ongoing outside the ride, so the signage could arrive and be installed at any time.
Currently, work is being done to install the new canopy on the exterior of the attraction, with scaffolding being added in late December. Vertical supports went up in early December 2024. The previous canopy was completely removed shortly after the ride closed in June 2024. The former exterior signage was completely removed in November 2024. Test Track is scheduled to reopen this year.
Test Track first opened in 1999, replacing the opening-day attraction World of Motion. The ride received a major update in 2012, becoming “Test Track 2.0.” The newest iteration, “Test Track 3.0,” will celebrate the history of advancements in transportation, taking inspiration from World of Motion before it. The ride will also revert back to its original General Motors sponsorship after years of being sponsored by Chevrolet.
