Menu

Over at the Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen, you’ll find a variety of available items. This menu is BRIMMING with new items and one returning classic! Let’s take a look!

2024 Las Posadas Holiday Kitchen Menu

Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!

Eats

First up, we grabbed Empanada de Pollo for $8. This is a new item on the menu this year — a Fried corn tortilla filled with chipotle chicken and potatoes topped with chile rojo salsa, crema Mexicana, and queso fresco. So…um…where’s the flavor? It didn’t seem like the chicken was even seasoned.

Empanada de Pollo

The flavors you’re getting come mostly from the salsa, but it wasn’t enough to give this any kind of heat or spiciness. We also think the empanada was too soft — it wasn’t crispy enough. So it’s a “no” from us.

Where’s the flavor?

Next up, we dug into the Tamal de Puerco con Mole for $9. This is another new item on the menu this year, with shredded pork in corn masa topped with mole negro, queso fresco, crema Mexicana, slivered almonds, and sesame seeds. Las Posadas had a tamale on the menu last year, too. The Tamal de Barbacoa. We loved the smoky, meaty filling and it was a WIN last year, so let’s see how this year’s iteration holds up!

Tamal de Puerco con Mole

Well, we will say that this actually had some flavor, unlike the Empanada. The shredded pork was well-seasoned, but the mole was too mild and bland. We didn’t get any of that chocolately spice flavor that makes a mole so good. This also needed more flavor.

Needs more flavor, too

Now, the returning favorite. Coming back again this year is the Dulce de Leche Churro (who doesn’t love a churro?) for $6.50. This sweet treat is topped with the classic cinnamon and sugar you’d expect on a churro. This little treat has been around for a few years.  In 2022, the filling was sweet and light, but it was nothing to write home about, and there really wasn’t much of it.

Churro

Last year, we felt that this was a GREAT sweet snack option. It had a ton of filling, which we loved. It’s smooth and delicious. So that might be the ONLY food you’d want to consider at this booth.

Drinks

In terms of drinks on this menu, we got a Holiday Margarita for $14. Margaritas aren’t anything new to the Mexico Pavilion, but this one has a bit of a festive twist. It is made with Dos Hombres Mezcal, tequila, cranberry lime juice, allspice, and orange blackcurrant liqueurs. Y’all…THIS ALSO NEEDED MORE FLAVOR. We’re not sure why Disney held back this year. This thing was BLAND, and it was almost like drinking straight-up water. If we hadn’t read the ingredients list, we would have NO idea what was in it because we didn’t taste anything.

Holiday Margarita

Next up, we got Coconut Guavarita for $13.50. This cocktail is made with Tromba Blanco Tequila, coconut water, guava cream, a hint of lime rum, and orange liqueur with a toasted coconut rim. It sounds like the holidays in Cabo, but how does it TASTE?

Coconut Guavarita

Well, we’ve got some good news about this drink — it had a nice fruity flavor. The guava was refreshing, while the coconut rim was fun. This was probably the only thing we enjoyed at this booth.

OVERALL

In the past, this has been one of our favorite booths at this festival, but almost everything was a big MISS for us this year. We’re not sure what happened, but the flavors were just not there for almost everything we tried.

If you get ANYTHING here, maybe grab the Churro and the Coconut Guavarita. But as far as everything else goes, we’d say skip it.
