Disney World is extra busy this week, with holiday crowds flooding the park for Thanksgiving week.
The bigger crowds mean high Genie+ prices, Genie+ selling out at some parks, and longer standby wait times. There’s one ride in particular that’s going to be extra difficult to ride with the inflated crowds!
Slinky Dog Dash is a popular roller coaster in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. With the fast, smooth ride and Toy Story theme, lots of people prioritize this coaster on their Hollywood Studios days.
We usually see long lines at Slinky Dog Dash, even during less busy times of the year, but right now this coaster is extra popular. In fact, the Genie+ Lightning Lanes for Slinky had completely SOLD OUT before 9:15AM this morning.
Slinky Dog Dash is part of Genie+, so it doesn’t have a la carte Lightning Lanes. To book a Lightning Lane and skip the line at this attraction, you need to purchase Genie+ for Hollywood Studios (or the multi-park Genie+). Once you’ve purchased Genie+, you can book the Lightning Lane for Slinky Dog Dash (starting at 7AM on the day of your visit).
Note that you can buy Genie+ starting at midnight on the day of your visit, and we recommend buying it before 7AM so that you’re ready to make that first Lightning Lane selection right when 7AM hits. Lightning Lanes for certain popular rides like Slinky Dog Dash get booked up quickly, so you should make those reservations FIRST.
With those Lightning Lanes sold out, the standby wait time for Slinky Dog Dash has been HIGH today. Around 9:15AM, it was already 150 minutes. By 11AM, it had slowed down a bit to 115 minutes (but that’s still almost two hours ). We expect the wait times to stay high throughout the day.
If you don’t want to buy Genie+ or aren’t able to before it sells out for the day, you can rope-drop Slinky Dog Dash instead. Rope drop means being at Hollywood Studios before the park opens (we recommend at least a half hour before the opening time) and heading straight for Slinky. Even if the line looks pretty long, it’ll probably be a shorter wait time first thing in the morning than later in the afternoon.
Don’t forget that people staying at Disney World hotels can enter the parks a full half hour EARLY (before that posted opening time), so you might have a better chance of getting on Slinky Dog Dash if you’re a Disney hotel guest!
If all else fails, check the wait times later in the evening, right before the park closes. Sometimes we see wait times drop as people begin to trickle out of the park.
We’ll continue watching for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB.
