There’s temporarily one less place to stock up on snacks at EPCOT, as a snack cart in World Discovery is currently surrounded by work walls. We noticed the new walls on a recent trip to the park.
Snack Cart at World Discovery Being Refurbished
The snack cart sits near the entrance of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It’s located next to a Disney Vacation Club information kiosk that opened in May of this year.
The location usually sells standard snack cart fare like ice cream bars and beverages. Hot dogs are also available.
Black walls now surround the cart and completely block it from view.
A nearby snack cart underwent a similar process earlier this year, as work walls and curtains appeared around a World Discovery popcorn stand in early March. Signs of a sleek new red and white design and color scheme were visible by late April, and the cart reopened shortly thereafter.
Between the recently refurbished refreshment stands and the new Disney Vacation Club kiosk, it seems that new and renovated outdoor structures around World Discovery all have a uniform contemporary red and white design. While nothing is confirmed at this point, it would make sense if the currently walled-off snack cart ultimately takes on a similar appearance.
The World Discovery neighborhood of EPCOT features three marquee attractions: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Mission: SPACE, and Test Track. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an indoor thrill ride that opened in mid-2022 as part of a years-long EPCOT reimagining that will soon conclude with the formal openings of the Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana walkthrough experience and the World Celebration neighborhood.
Mission: SPACE is a motion simulator that opened in August of 2003 and was (very) loosely inspired by “Mission to Mars,” a 2000 box office blunder that was itself inspired by the former Disneyland and Magic Kingdom shows of the same name. The attraction offers two unique experiences: the intense Orange Mission, which transports guests to Mars, and the tamer Green Mission, which provides guests with a scenic view of Earth from space. Extensive renovations to the area surrounding the ride are currently taking place.
Test Track opened in 1999 as a replacement for World of Motion, which was an opening day attraction at EPCOT (then EPCOT Center) in late 1982. The ride received an overhaul in 2012 and is currently undergoing another reimagining, as it was announced during the “A Celebration of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products: Yesterday Today and Tomorrow” panel at Destination D23 2023 that a new World of Motion-inspired take on Test Track is in the works.
