Tower of Terror Is Having a Rough Time in Disney World

It’s okay, we all have rough days — and that includes Disney World rides.

Hollywood Studios

Not every day can feel like snoap on Main Street or like coasting through Space MountainWe see rides go down for technical difficulties all of the time in Disney World, and now, one of the most popular Disney’s Hollywood Studios rides is having a rough time.

On Friday, November 18th, we noticed that Tower of Terror was down for technical issues in the afternoon. Cast Members did not have an estimate and after peeking on the My Disney Experience app, we saw that the ride never reopened that day!

Tower of Terror closed on Friday

It might just need a good night’s sleep, right? Wrong. The ride was still closed on the morning of Saturday, November 19th.

By the time we got to Hollywood Studios again on Saturday afternoon, we saw the line of Cast Members in front of the attraction again. We spoke to them and they said the ride was still down for technical difficulties and they did not have a reopening estimate.

Tower of Terror is STILL closed

According to Cast Members we spoke with earlier, Tower of Terror is refurbishing one set of elevators, so only one half of the ride is currently running. That’s why the wait times for the ride have been pretty high and because only half of the ride is going, it’s probably more likely to go down.

What’s going to happen next…?

So, what happens now? Well, Cast Members don’t know when the ride will be able to open as of now. If you’re in the parks, keep checking the My Disney Experience app — wait times are updated in there constantly and you’ll be able to see if the ride reopened.

Also, don’t be afraid to change your plans! If Tower of Terror was a must for you and it wasn’t open on the day you visited, try park hopping on a different day that you see it’s open in the app! This isn’t always possible, but you are allowed to change your plans even if you’ve been creating these plans for months.
