Tokyo Disneyland Just Showed Disney World Up With This French Toast Grilled Cheese!

Here at DFB, we’re experts when it comes to food at Disney World and Disneyland Resort, but that’s not all!

La Taverne de Gaston

We’ve also tried our fair share of eats on Disney Cruise Line, and we’ve even visited the international Disney parks to test out the restaurants and unique snacks that we can find there. And if you’re planning a trip to Tokyo Disney Resort anytime soon — or you’re just genuinely curious about the Disney food around the world — then you’ll want to check out this review!

Our friend Heather from Dining in Disney recently visited La Taverne de Gaston at Tokyo Disneyland and shared her experience with us. The restaurant is very similar to Gaston’s Tavern at Magic Kingdom as far as decor and theme goes.

The menu has a few different options, serving the Big Bite Croissant, the French Toast Sandwich, and the Hunter’s Pie as the main items. You can also order Gaston and LeFou-themed desserts, as well as some drinks.

The inside of the tavern is themed exactly like the one from Beauty and the Beast, and it’s very immersive! Guests line up to order at the counter, then receive their food there.

There’s another menu hanging above the counter inside the restaurant, this time on a digital screen. Here, you can see the full scope of items that are offered.

More menus

Once we picked up our food, we went looking for a table and got to check out some more of the decor along the way. There’s a checkerboard and a coat rack…

The theming is spectacular!

…as well as a water station where you’re served out of a barrel. How fitting!

Even the water station fits the theme!

And of course, there’s a giant portrait of Gaston hanging above the fireplace, along with his massive chair. He really DOES use antlers in all of his decorating!

It looks a lot like the one in Magic Kingdom!

At the utensil station, you can pick up trays for your food so that it’s easier to transport. How convenient! There are also cups, napkins, and hand sanitizer available.

Now it’s time to talk about the FOOD! We ordered a few different things from the menu to get a good taste of the options here. Doesn’t that spread look delicious?!

Food from the tavern!

First up, we’ve got the drink! We ordered the Berry Cheers. It was a very pretty drink, and nice and sweet, so if you prefer your drinks on the sugary side, this one’s for you!

Berry Cheers

For the entree, we picked the French Toast Sandwich, which was SO good. The bread is a sweet sugared French toast, but the middle is a grilled cheese. A winning combination of flavors that we didn’t know we needed before eating this.

Just look at that cheese pull!

The LeFou’s Churro is sour apple flavored, and it was…just okay. Not really great and kinda dry, we’d probably skip this one on a return trip. That sugar topping had a very artificial flavor to it.

And of course, we can’t forget about dessert! We ordered the Sweet Gaston, which is a strawberry gelatin base with mango mousse on top. Super cute, and very tasty! A great choice if you’re a lover of fruit flavors.

So if you happen to find yourself in Tokyo Disneyland in the future, check out La Taverne de Gaston! It was pretty popular during our visit, but we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Plus, you can’t beat that straight-outta-the -movie atmosphere!
