Wish Us Luck — We’re Trying Disney’s New Churros With GHOST PEPPER Sauce

Disneyland has all kinds of tasty snacks, from Mickey ice cream bars to funnel cake fries, popcorn to toffee. But perhaps the most ICONIC of all Disneyland treats is a CHURRO. If you don’t eat a churro when you visit Disneyland…did you even really go?

Let’s talk about Disney food!

Now, for the Halloween season, there’s a new churro in Disneyland — the Pistachio-Cherry Churro. That flavor combination sounds classic enough, but just wait until you hear about the dipping sauce that comes with it! All we can say is…we’re a little bit scared. 😬

For the 2022 Halloween season, over 50 new treats have arrived at Disneyland. We’re trying out a bunch of these limited-time offerings to find out which ones are the best. We love a seasonal churro flavor, so of course we have to try out the new churro, which can be found at the New Orleans Square Churro Cart from September 2nd through November 10th.

The Pistachio-Cherry Churro is a Cinnamon Churro rolled in Pistacho and Sour Cherry Sugars — sounds innocent enough, right? Here’s where it gets interesting: the churro is served with a side of Ghost Pepper Grape Sauce. WHAT? 😮

Pistachio, sour cherry, and grape already sounds like a strange flavor combination, but add in one of the HOTTEST peppers in the world and we’re downright scared of this new treat. But hey — that’s right on brand for a Halloween snack, right?

The new churros!

These churros are incredibly messy, and our batch was a little on the greasy side. The pistachio side was quite good, with a very artificial pistachio flavor that wasn’t bitter, but not overly sweet either. However, the cherry side…well, it wasn’t our favorite. The cherry flavoring was really sour and reminded us a lot of medicine.

That cherry is SOUR.

The ghost pepper grape sauce was surprisingly delicious! It’s slightly sweet with a SERIOUS kick to it. We didn’t think it paired with the cherry very well, but it matched up with the pistachio quite nicely.

If you think you can handle the heat, head to the New Orleans Square Churro Cart by November 10th to get this churro for $6.75. But don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Ghost pepper grape sauce not really your thing? We don’t blame you. But don’t worry — there are plenty of other treats to try in Disneyland this fall! Check out our full list of over 50 new treats to find some that might be a bit less extreme.

And don’t forget that Oogie Boogie Bash is returning to Disneyland as well! This popular party is already sold out, so you may be out of luck if you don’t have your tickets already. But you can also celebrate Halloween during the day, with themed ride overlays like Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and the Haunted Mansion Holiday.
