A NEW Disney animated movie is on its way!
Disney has announced that they are working on a NEW animated film called Wish!
The main character of the story is Asha. According to the team behind the film, Asha is incredibly smart, an optimist with a sharp wit, and a person who cares a lot about her community. But, Asha will soon learn that it’s not enough to have a dream. She also finds out that sometimes the bigger the wish, the harder the journey.
Ultimately, Asha’s wish puts her up against one of the most formidable foes in Disney history. When Asha sees a darkness that no one else does, in a moment of separation she makes a plea to the stars for help.
The power of her wish calls down an actual star from the sky. That brings us to the character of Star! Star is the answer to Asha’s wish! And while Star is a cosmic force made of things like possibility, imagination, and hope, Star is also a source of boundless energy and is a beacon of chaos.
To make things more complicated, Star only speaks through pantomime (because Star is far too evolved for speech).
The movie will be a musical with a watercolor style. It’ll be made of 3D animation but will take inspiration from classic Disney movies. And it will reportedly have more easter eggs than movies that came before!
Julia Michaels is working on the soundtrack.
And Ariana DeBose will be Asha. The film will be directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, and will release in November 2023.
