An October Event Could Bring BIG Crowds to Disney World

There’s a LOT going on in Disney World in October, and we have even more to tell you about!

Magic Kingdom

Halloween festivities are obviously going on, but so is a celebration for Hispanic and Latin American Heritage Month. There’s also EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival that’s continuing throughout the month, and it will be EPCOT’s 40th Anniversary on October 1st! But, there’s another exciting event happening in Disney World in October.

Historically Black Colleges and Universities Week will be held at Disney World for the first time EVER this October! Thousands of high school students will come to Disney World from October 6th-9th, 2022.

And, this is anticipated to be the largest HBCU Week EVER! An event-record 5,000 high school students from the Southeastern region of the U.S. and beyond are expected to attend the college fair along with 50 HBCU recruiters who will be handing out college acceptance letters and scholarships on the spot.

In all, there should be more than $10 million in scholarships awarded, which would also be an HBCU Week record! Prospective students can register for the college fair on HBCUWeek.org.

In addition to the college fair and a live broadcast of ESPN’s First Take, there will be 5 HBCU schools performing at Magic Kingdom Park and taking center stage during Battle of the Bands at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The schools are Bethune Cookman, North Carolina A&T, Delaware State, Winston-Salem State, and Alcorn University.

You can get tickets for the Battle of the Bands soon at HBCU Week’s website, which also has more details on the event.
