Rides close down all the time in Disney World — it’s just a part of the reality of theme parks! Whether it comes down to the weather, technical malfunctions, refurbishments, or any other myriad of reasons, it’s common to see at least one ride unexpectedly closed every day in Disney World.
One of our favorite classic Magic Kingdom rides, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, is a ride that seems to close down all the time. In fact, we’ve seen it temporarily closed many times and we’ve even been evacuated from it! And now — it seems that the PeopleMover’s problems continue.
We recently stopped by Magic Kingdom to find the PeopleMover closed (again). When we spoke to a Cast Member, we were told that our favorite leisurely ride had been closed all day. According to the Cast Member, the PeopleMover was actually close to opening at one point in the day, but another technical difficulty caused further issues.
Sometimes Cast Members will bring out games for guests to enjoy in front of closed rides, and this time it was cornhole! (You know, the game that challenges you to toss bean bags onto a board.) It’s not often that you can say you played cornhole in Disney World!
If you’re in Magic Kingdom and want to ride the PeopleMover, keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app to see when the ride may reopen. At the time of writing, the PeopleMover is listed as temporarily closed, and Cast Members could not confirm whether the technical difficulties would be resolved.
Thankfully, Magic Kingdom is full of many rides to enjoy, and you can check the My Disney Experience app for wait times and temporary closures during your visit. Keep following DFB for more Disney World ride news and updates!
