American Airlines Is Preparing to Cut Your Flight Time to Disney World in HALF!

While teleporting to the Disney parks isn’t possible (yet), we may not be that far off.

LONG Plane Rides Are A Buzzkill

Even though flying to Disney World is a much faster method of travel than driving, it can still take some guests a day full of flights to get to Disney World. But imagine a world of supersonic travel, where you could cut your flight to Disney World in HALF. Pretty amazing, right? Well — supersonic travel is coming, and major commercial airlines are preparing for it.

According to CNBC, Supersonic Overture planes from Boom Supersonic promise to cut flight times in half. What would that look like? That would mean flying from Miami to London in less than 5 hours. That’s because the jet will fly as fast as “Mach 1.7, or 1,304 mph.”

Previously, United Airlines committed to buying 15 Overture jets. And now, American Airlines has agreed to purchase 20 Overture planes to add to their fleet, with the option to purchase another 40 in the future.

While this is all very exciting news, it’s important to keep in mind that Boom Supersonic is still years away from building its first commercial airplane. The first model is expected to come out in 2025. The plane is expected to carry 65 to 80 passengers, all on sustainable aviation fuel.

Should everything go according to plan, Boom Supersonic expects Overture planes to begin commercial flights by the end of the decade. We hope to see that happen! While we wait, check out United Airlines’ deal with Boom Supersonic. Or check out why you might want to skip flying entirely and just drive down to Disney World.
