7 Long-Term Closures Continue In Disney World Next Week

Do you know what REALLY powers Disney World magic? No, it’s not pixie dust — it’s refurbishments!

Construction walls in EPCOT

OK we know that sounds a bit strange. But it’s kind of true! Disney World is known for being a bright, clean, and fun place to be, and a lot of that is true because the Imagineers are consistently updating, repainting, and generally refurbishing all of the attractions. Unfortunately, that can mean that certain rides, attractions, shops, and hotel amenities are unavailable for a while during those updates. So that you’re prepared before your next trip, here’s a complete list of CLOSURES in Disney World next week.

Magic Kingdom

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a long time in this park, and it still doesn’t have a reopening date. However, we’ve seen some promising signs that this attraction could reopen soon — for example, we saw some engine testing, and Cast Members were spotted training for the ride!

Spotted testing!

One of the reasons this ride is closed is due to construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run roller coaster. This coaster — located in Tomorrowland — doesn’t have an opening date either. We’ll be on the lookout for more information about both attractions.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

TRON construction has also shut down the Space Mountain gift shop, which is called Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. Because of the surrounding construction, guests cannot access this shop and are instead being directed to exit the Space Mountain ride a different way.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. Construction

Right now, this gift shop is scheduled to be closed at least through October 3rd (which is as far as the refurbishments calendar currently goes). It will likely remain closed until TRON construction wraps up.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

This attraction — where guests can help Belle tell the story of Beauty and the Beast — is still closed as well. It doesn’t have a reopening date yet.

Hello, Belle!

If you want to see Belle in Magic Kingdom, you can usually spot her at the front of the Festival of Fantasy parade, which runs in Magic Kingdom once or twice each day. Check the times on the My Disney Experience app to find out when it’s running during your trip.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Pete’s Silly Sideshow is a character meet-and-greet location in Storybook Circus, where guests could previously visit with Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy. It’s been closed for a long time, but it could reopen any day now!

Pete’s Silly Sideshow is closed for now!

A while ago, Disney said that this spot will reopen sometime “in the coming months.” We’re keeping a close eye on the location and will let you know as soon as we see it open.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique — the Disney princess and prince salon for kids ages 3 to 12 — will reopen soon in Magic Kingdom, on August 25th.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

We only have a couple more weeks to wait! Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for the Disney Springs or Grand Floridian Resort Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations — the August reopening date is just for the Magic Kingdom location.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This show, themed to The Little Mermaid, of course, is still closed in Hollywood Studios. Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet, so we don’t know when or if it will return.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

If you’re looking for a Little Mermaid-themed attraction, head to Magic Kingdom to ride Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid.

Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! is also still closed in this park. Disney has announced that it will return sometime this year, but we don’t have a specific date yet.

When it does return, there will be some changes to the show, like new characters, stunts, and effects.

EPCOT

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

This film attraction is currently closed in the Canada pavilion, but the reason for its closure is actually not all bad — right now, the theater is hosting the Appleseed Orchard food booth, which is part of the 2022 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival!

Canada Far & Wide

This festival runs through November 19th, so we’re expecting Canada Far & Wide to remain closed until that date. In the meantime, check out our full reviews of all the food booths at the festival and head in to find some tasty snacks.

Disney World Water Parks

Blizzard Beach

Although Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is still closed (it has been for most of 2022), guests can still visit Typhoon Lagoon — Disney World’s other water park.
